What do you do in your lunch break at work?

unless I've got something to do (post office, shopping etc.) I usually surf, but today for the first time I went and sat in our newly created 'break' area (a few sofas) and started reading The Photographers Eye. Good to get away from the desk

I just lost my job due to cuts, but I used to just sit, either talking or reading. Or after I got my Kindle I started reading that.

Not a lot as my lunch half hr is walk to staff restaurant which takes 5 mins each way then have a quick sarnie and out to the fag shelter, we are not allowed out as its a bonded warehouse............worse than being in prison really

Depends on several factors:

When my lunch break is depending on working time, where my lunch break is (i.e. where ever I have to or voluntarily stop), how long I stop for and finally what the weather is like.

before now I have diverted to a beauty point and get out my folding chair, crack open my lunch box, and think how ruddy terrible life is to me making me sit there.

Oh and also,,, why do I always forget my camera on these days.

I must say I am amazed at the amount of people who sleep in their break.

Altely thats all I can do,, only get 4-5 hours on a night so make up for it else where

I very rarely take a lunch break. It varies at what time I get to eat most days as well. Sometimes I have it at 12, sometimes at 3. Not much fun on a 10 hour day

I like to have some food, check emails/facebook, text a friend or two, and watch my gorgeous female colleagues walk by!

We only have two, half hour lunch breaks a week due to working two long shifts and three short shifts per week. Both lunch breaks consist of 20mins in the works gym on a cross trainer, quick splash in shower, then back to our rest area for something to eat. Break is supposed to be 30mins but it's amazing what you can fit in.

That sounds awful I would hate to have to only have x2 20 min's breaks.

we start at 8.20, first break 10.40-11, then 1.05 until 1.25 then end of day is 2.30.....

Its a nightmare. Mind, wet duty's are okay..... just about to go on one now. Gotta love mobile dongle and laptop to bypass schools blocks!

On our short shifts (6hrs 42mins finish at 13:06)) we just have the one 10 minute break, 3hrs into the shift. On the long shifts (8hrs 42mins finish 15:36) we get 10 mins, then 30 mins for lunch.

You're working too hard Garry Used to do the same, but realised I was only working for myself... so if I wanted to break for a couple of hours in daylight, and work later instead, it was up to me. If you don't make the best of working for yourself, you might as well be a wage slave like everyone else!

In my lunchbreaks, I used to eat my lunch once I'd got myself to where lunch was and cleaned up enough to eat. No such thing as the interweb back then (well, there was but I didn't have it) and there was no way I could use it when I was working anyway since I was either covered in paint, in a dusty environment or out in the fields, sometimes driving a tractor.

When I worked in The City and wasn't in a wine bar, bar, or good old fashioned pub at lunchtime, I always grabbed the camera and went for a walk around Tower Bridge or St Pauls and the like. Swapped that job for something more challenging which involves working from home and/or on customer sites but seem to haver bypassed lunchtimes altogether....... Must try and make some me time.......

I used to do that all the time. Loved working in the city. Now im up in Potters Bar. Suddenly i've developed an interest in macro photography during my lunchtime

I nearly always take a lunch break - and I always ensure my mates do as well. We don't get paid for it and it would rarely be appriciated if it happened on a regular basis.

What do I do? Well I eat my lunch! Oh, and most days I go down to the canteen or outside with a couple of mates and we have a bloody good rant about stuff. Always feel better for it.

Myself, and the other guys from the Engineering team go out and play hacky sack, or mess around with a frisbee, american football or whatever.

Recently, I've been spending more time on here though.

I hope to kick off a photography competition at work soon though, so we'll probably all be out snapping during lunchbreak.
