I'm not familiar with this concept of 'lunch break'

lunch break? what's one of those? i just faff about all day every day!

At present I'm emptying stuff out of a garage I rent into my van to take home in the evening.

Normally feet on desk, reading. I do not accept phone calls from clients, my argument being if I'm not here I can't so why should I when I am here?.

Me neither, I just work through lunch and munch on a sandwich.

I eat at the desk. 1st break I have the new year 7's keep me company, they want somewhere to eat their pack lunch so they come to my room. I check my facebook etc

2nd break in room - detention duty and any kids that want to come sit in with me.

Start winding down for lunch about 11-11.30, have a bit of a surf, go for a walk, get something to eat then get back to a bit of work about 2. Then I'll go home at 4.30.

I walk.

Takes me 15 mins to get to town. Then either pick up some lunch and come back, or wander round the shops for a bit, do some banking etc.

strange concept, I actually have something to eat lol

unfortunately 30mins goes wayyyyyyy too quick

Get out of the office and head down to the local shop...it's a 20 min round trip so it's all good. Need to get fresh air after spending all morning in a stuffy office.

It really depends on the weather and location, if it's pouring down we'll try and rig up a tarp to sit under or sit in the 4x4 if it's near. In good weather we tend to explore the part of the reserve we are working on, looking for birds, bugs or plants. If we're all knackered we may just have a kip :D

When I worked in The City and wasn't in a wine bar, bar, or good old fashioned pub at lunchtime, I always grabbed the camera and went for a walk around Tower Bridge or St Pauls and the like. Swapped that job for something more challenging which involves working from home and/or on customer sites but seem to haver bypassed lunchtimes altogether....... Must try and make some me time.......

Hey Wendy, are you on this 'modern' timetable now? - My eldest is a new year 7 and he reckons his 'lunch' break is only 20 minutes - Mind you, he's home for lunch proper by 2.30 - Doesn't give you long to get much done either I guess.

I always try and get away from my desk in my lunch break otherwise I'd be in danger of getting bored of surfing TP all day. I usually head over to the staff canteen to either have some pie and chips or have my butties if I've bothered to bring some in.

Couple of pints, pickled egg and a read of the paper. Sometimes a bit of the crossword.

I take my netbook and watch the US tv progs I've downloaded. Gives me more time at home to get on with other stuff.

Depends really. Usually try and get out of the office with some of the other guys to grab something to eat, or nip to the shops/bank etc. Then come back to the office and either have a browse on 'tinterweb or go upstairs to the gaming room and have a go on the PS3/Wii/Xbox.

Either that or go down to the Thames and try and take a few pics.

Erm, I have lunch then as I work alone, put the feet up & have a snooze. Most days though somebody arrives & I have to deal with them. Customers are so thoughtless!

I thought it was just an Essex thing, to give our little darlings more hoody time in daylight before the curfews kick in.;) - Nce to see it's spreading.

Causing a few disruptions on the few days I do work from home now he's in earlier, I have to get my day's worth done before 'lunchtime'

We get 45 mins and when I am in the office, I usually eat my sandwich (and whatever else in in the lunchbox), and browse the net a bit. I will have a wander over into our canteen sometimes, as its in the other building I get some fresh air walking between the two.

I ought to start going for walks and get a bit fitter, even if it is just round the outside of the warehouse.

Dont get my lunch hour till 2pm So start nibbling about 12.30 while Im working come 2pm then Im off out, drive a couple of miles down the road to large hotel grounds and usualy sit watching the wildlife and spotting the resident pair of Herons who this year raised 3 young so for a few months had 5 to watch for and take pics of.

I work straight through most days and finish an hour early :D

Eat my lunch, and read the news online whilst fending off daft questions from those upstairs people. Sometimes it`s good to talk with your mouth full :D

I usually have my lunch

Worked through my lunch break today

I sit in my car and watch a film o how I love having my in car dvd player. But I have to admit to going indoors where it is warm when it turns horrible cold.

It must be 20 years since I had a lunch break. I've always just worked through.

Kev.

We have first break at 11.30 - 12pm ... far to early to eat a lunch then 2nd break 1.30-2pm ... it's done that way to help with travel between schools. Not ideal times at all Day starts 8.40 ends 3pm for students.

That sounds awful I would hate to have to only have x2 20 min's breaks.

Lol @ hoody time, I am mean and take them. Hope it is not an Essex thing as I am not interested in that at all.

Must be a nightmare for working parents.

on days during the week-go to work restaurant eat lunch and then browse, days during weekend-pop to shops browse, nights-have a kip :D

Simples.

I work for myself - set my own times and hours, and don't necessarily work office hours. However, I do take 2 hours out of an afternoon and get out on the bike for a ride whenever possible - weather permitting (meaning I didn't always go out when there was a foot of snow on the ground this jan-feb, not "ooh-it's drizzling a bit") Phone goes on answering machine, mobile diverted to answer too, and away I go - ride 20-30 miles, shower, coffee and buns, and back to work.

Which is what i'm just about to do now :)

Bye... ;)

I'd be interested to know what you do.

I do the same in my lunch break as I do the rest of the time at work - nowt. Almost never anything to do here...

When I do have work I just work through and have a bit of lunch at my desk

I try to take camera out for half an hour at least one lunch time a week...
