What Did You Waste Your Pocket Money On When You Were A Child?

the funny thing about it was the shotguns were only secured with a bath type chain through the trigger guard,I'd like to see the police pass that now.
Those were the days eh? :D

LUCKY BAGS!!!!!!!!
OMG! I how could I have forgotten those?
Far better than these kinder egg type crap things any day (y)

Think the only thing I actually saved for was to send of to be a member of two comics, The Warlord and Fireball, you got membership cards in a plastic wallet, plastic pendants and a few other goodies

Black jacks, fruit salads and aniseed balls. Plus woolworths pick and mix, flumps and strawberry laces. How I ate all that crap without feeling sick as a dog is a mystery.

Also matchbox cars. I had loads. Car obsessed from a very early age!

Still enjoy a Jubbly in Summer.

Ha, bloody `snake-belts`. Nearly all the kids had em to hold up the bloody kecks that didn't fit!

I had one! I had this awful pair of green trousers with elastic that were too big. Snake belt ensued as my mum was fed up of said trousers continually ending up half mast. Trousers ended up on a teddy bear. They didn't fit him well either.

Panini stickers then MD 20/20 in my teenage years, young and foolish I think they say!

Computer components, soldering iron etc. I was always hacking electronics, parsing I/o and see what I could get out of it.

Later it was just booze, skunk and motor cycle parts to modify and personalise. Not all at the same time dare I say.

Records. Then got a paper round and washed cars all summer for my first pair of ten hole docs. Been a love affair ever since.

I was boring and saved every penny as I've always been car mad and when in a car or more likely on a bus I'd watch what the driver and dream of the day I got to drive. So, I saved every penny and put it in the building society until I was 17 and able to learn and buy my first car... a white Mini 1000 :D

Pretty much this myself although mine was a White Land Rover 1977 S3 88 CSW ... That said I did spend some money on things like Airfix, painting materials etc growing up also, also used to really like my woodwork so did buy tools from time to time

Never had pocket money but had a job cleaning a small bakery in the evenings. Spent every penny on fishing tackle. I still have a few items from those days, a Mitchell Match & a Mitchell 300 which I still use occasionally and a custom built feeder rod which I don't use (fibreglass). Having to earn money to pay for the things I wanted made me appreciate the items and to this day I try to keep the items I purchase in the best possible condition.

YEP and 10 bob for a gun licence to and that was for the 5 shot pump action multi choke savage i had at age 14 .how times have changed

Airfix kits from around seven until thirteen, then Riko and MRRC slot cars until fifteen, then saved up for an electric guitar and amp until I left school and started work - eventually bought an Arbiter Les Paul copy, Marshall 100 and Fender Showman cab - then I was skint and happy.

Airfix kits, balsa kits, Marvel comics.

Anyone remember Bazooka Joe chewing gum? I never could blow bubbles :/

Later on it was Russian camera gear then cider and fags

Another one who spent many a happy hour building Airfix models. I also enjoyed reading, commando comics and Sven Hassel books spring to mind

I totally forgot about the Sven Hassel books - more than a bit politically incorrect nowadays I would have thought:oops: :$

Wasted most of my pocket money on cheap bits to patch up my wreck of a pushbike...

Eventually spent so much time in the LBS (local bike shop) that Mick Donnovan (the owner) said "Mark... stop bloody well wasting your pocket money on cheap crap will you, and come in here next Saturday at 8:00am - I'll give you a job as the "Saturday Lad" - you'll get to do all the crap jobs in the shop that nobody wants to do, but you can have your pick of the "salvage bucket" to build up stuff to get your bike working - and you can buy PROPER bits at "cost+10%" with your wages if you want..." Best offer i've had - ended up learning how to build/repair/adjust pretty much anything on a bike - up to and including building my own wheels! and worked from 13 to nearly 18 on saturdays, plus school holidays etc. Ended up joining the local cycling club that was "sponsored" by Mick, and that pretty much set me on a path that I'm still enjoying in my early 50's...

we made our own money, digging out corona bottles from tip..sixpence on returnables.
Or going around the back of the shop, where they were stored, and then taking them to the front, ( or to another shop and repeat)
So I've heard anyway.
