What Did You Have For Dinner Today?

Been ages since I had a Kebab!!!

Looking forward to todays Sunday dinner - will be roast beef with roasties (spuds and parsnips) along with Yorkshire pud and several veg. And no washing up!
 
Me and the missus went to Dobbies garden centre for lunch today. We had a cup of chocolate a small pot of tea, a Chicken baguette and a BLT Baguette, one small piece of Carrot cake. It came to £18 not impressed one bit! Baguettes were very dry, and did not taste very fresh, tea was not very hot. Wont be going back again :(

Thing is, people do shop there :thinking: it was very busy when we went today. Prices are rather high, it was the first time we went today. Really can't see us ever going back!
 
SOMEONE once told me that you can tell your class by whether you call it “breakfast, lunch and dinner” or “breakfast, dinner and tea”.

I grew up very much in the latter camp – the northern, flat-cap wearing, working class group, where we had our teas on our knees watching TV.

Dinners were school dinners (never packed lunches – I used to look over into the packed lunch hall and I swear some of their lunchboxes were packed like elaborate picnics, I was just waiting for them to pitch the tartan rug and light the candelabra), while we queued up for whatever they served up pre-Jamie Oliver.

At home we’d have our tea at 6pm without fail. As a treat my mum and I would sit and watch the news with it on our knees, just like my friends at school. Some of them had theirs at 5pm – one even before that.

I have no idea what time his family must have gone to bed but if they were still up they must have been starving by 8pm.

But over the years I’ve changed camps. Somehow I’ve found myself calling my evening meal dinner.

Seems like I am lower class then :rolleyes:

Best Burgers I ever made were made of Sirloin steak, yes Sirloin ( whatever was I thinking of :eek: ) Minced the steak up with knife, chopped in an onion with an egg, added some thyme and black pepper. Absolutely mouthwatering :)
 
Braised beef in a nice rich gravy, potato, cheese & onion pie with a crunchy bacon topping and steamed veg
 
Tonight will be soybean and goats cheese lasagne (nicer than it sounds) with some green veg on the side (probably mangetout).
 
Lunch was a carcinogen sarnie (bacon) and tea/supper will be red pepper and chickpea curry with a red dhal, Peshawari naan and poppadum. Beware of South Westerly gales in the morning...

Maybe.. but Llamawoman requested pie instead. So pie it is - chicken and mushroom for me, goats cheese and spinach for her. Roasted courgettes and steamed spinach on the side.

Sounds delish
 
4 tins of guinness as an aperitif, roast chicken, creamy mash,roast tatties, brussels,sweetcorn and carrots.
Gravy made with the juices.
 
A very unhealthy Burger and chips, lots of fat came out of the Burgers :eek: . Whatever would Jamie Oliver say about that? Mind you, he is more concerned about Sugar at the moment :rolleyes:
 
Moussaka, with the rather odd side of some baked avocado that needed using up. Still pretty nice.
Also made further inroads to my latest BeerHawk order - currently finishing up the evening with a 10% chocolate stout... :beer:
 
Homemade beef and winter veg stew in the slow cooker for tonight with a baked potato:)
 
Evening meal tonight is roast Chicken and Roasties, and Carrot and Turnip I made myself. Followed by shop bought lemon Cheesecake :banana:
 
Lamb cutlets boiled potatoes and runner beans.
covered in Mint and onion sauce (y)

Not sure what to cook for tonight at the moment though.
 
Beer battered hake and chips.
 
Mince chips and cabbage. Not keen on the cabbage and mince. Missus loves that combo, so that's what we had [emoji4]

Chateaubriand, chips and a bottle of red wine, followed by a cheese board.

Replete.
 
Just had pan-fried gnocchi in a cherry tomato and basil sauce.
 
Fish pie. :(

Not that I don't love fish pie, just that we usually go out for a carvery Sunday roast but decided to stay at home this week since change overs at Mrs Nod's business weren't as convenient as they might have been WRT timings. Never mind, the fish pie was delicious and there's always next week for the carvery (and the distinct possibility of an extra lunch out during the week!)
 
When I was a lad I used to call a meal 'Dinner', I've now learnt to call it 'Lunch', but I going back to my younger days to say for Dinner(lunch) we had the excellent fish and chips from here -

Going to make the missus a Ham Foo Young, and Burger and Chips for myself. Followed by my own home made fruit cake :)

They are good, but half the time the view is a wee bit ... damp.
