What Did You Have For Dinner Today?

Battered sausage and chips from the chippy...

...needed something quick!

Well, starter was mushrooms on toast with a deep fried poached egg and a beurre blanc sauce. Had to have it - I was intrigued be the egg... It was lovely - they'd even managed to keep a runny yolk!

My dear old Mum was good at poaching eggs when they were supposed to be fried, all that oil :puke:

Wasn't there a thread somewhere berating Face book because people were posting images of their breakfast / lunch / tea ?
Just sayin' :D

Pisto manchego , served on sourdough fried in olive oil, with a fried egg on top.

Was pretty damn good, if I may say so :)

Not many actually posted a picture. Just one from a foreign git ;)

Kung Pao chicken, home made, well home made out of a jar, a freezer bag of veggies and some chicken.

Prawn and cod curry with rice and raita. Better get it down before The Apprentice starts!

Just been to visit the grand kids and they made us some lovely Chicken wraps for lunch. A Lovely light Carrot cake for afters. Very nice, especially when you don't have to do it yourself.

Applewood smoked cheddar cheese and mayonnaise sarnie for me. Pizza or pasta for tea, depending on what I can be bothered to heat/cook!

I'm no longer eating anything with a face!

It was a bit touch and go with the Mashed spuds as few of them had "eyes"

The sausages however showed no facial features, so my conscience is clear

Used to have dinner at my mates years ago, when we lived near each other. The family are Chinese and they left the head on everything, Chicken, Prawns, Fish, head always left on. They always fought over the eyes! Good job they could not get a full pig on the table, convinced they would have left the head on that!

All the best banquets have a (suckling) pig C/W head.
Where else are they going to put the apple?
(And leave it visible that is) :D

Curry on the way... lamb biryani, tarka daal, saag paneer, pilau rice and poppadoms. And a cheeky beer, of course.

Is Tarka daal 'otter than the other daals?

I'll get me coat

Some years ago, Mrs Nod and I were invited to a party that was hosted by a fisherman. He had problems with Mrs Nod being veggie (not real problems, more that he couldn't understand why she didn't eat fish [bear in mind that he was Greek and spoke minimal English - as minimal as our Greek back then!]) When we had got through to him that she didn't eat anything with eyes, he simply ripped the head off a fish and offered it to her! It was all in fun and later in the meal, he spotted a chip with 2 black spots on it on her plate, grabbed it and pulled the spotty end off for her. FTR, the fish was excellent!!!

Mince and tatties, sounds boring but it's not something I have very often so it made a nice change.
The classics are the best :)

Mrs Llama was out, so after a few ales and losing the desire to cook, I had super noodles on fried bread. Filthy, filthy food... and totally delicious alongside a craft beer.

wow they are all big dinners... if I had any of these I would never be able to eat my tea....

PS they are called "dinner ladies" for a reason :)

As we are cutting back, I made chicken tikka, with special biryani rice and cauliflower bhaji - very nice and a lot cheaper than a takeaway.

Maybe but even I couldn't eat a whole one!

Just to start a fight, and they serve the kids at lunch time, Dinner is an evening meal. Tea is a light snack before dinner ;)

dinner is at dinner time.. any other time is wrong.. dinner ladies are called dinner ladies because they server dinners.. at 12 oclock dinner time..

I love how southerners get it all wrong then vainly try to make it look like they are right..

breakfast, dinner, tea, supper... be told! :)

In fact the true definition of dinner is the "most significant meal of the day", sometimes eaten at lunch time sometimes eaten in the evening.

So yes you can have dinner at lunch time, and its usually refers to school meals.
And goes back to the time when some families couldn't afford to serve a hot meal for the kids,
So the state provided at least one hot meal a day.
As it wasn't practical to get everyone back at school in the evening they served it at lunch time.

Don't start getting all correct and logical about it... this is OOF after all. Besides, there's a North / South divide for a reason. Southern numpties! :p

A selection of different Indian samosas, chicken pakora & bhaji with a selection of dips

Is this primarily about Dinner or Tea, or any meal at any time of the day?

Meatballs tonight, cooking just now.
Yummy!

Not the kind that were reluctantly eaten at school dinners, mid 70s, that followed by pink custard and sponge cake :puke: and teachers and parents wondered why us kids bunked off school!

And of course frog spawn masquerading as semolina ( was it?)
Mind you there was never a beef burger or pizza in sight ;)
