What crop gives better quality image retention? LR or PS?

Here's on to have a debate on.

Have you tried both and compared?

Which gives you better results: cropping your image in Lightroom before exporting to photoshop, or exporting to Photoshop and cropping there?

Or is there no difference either way - so you crop in both?

I haven't experimented, but I'm struggling to see why it should have any impact at all on image quality.

If you don't know what you are doing with the crop tool in Photoshop, you can end up changing resolution, but both crop tools can be entirely equivalent, with one advantage that I use Photoshop for if needed. And that is resizing an image to have a larger canvas, which can't be done in LR. Eg if I've cropped a bit tight on an edge, I can grow the canvas to give me the space a needed and content permitting, can use content aware fill to grow in the blank.
