Yes
I took a couple of shots realizing that against the bright light it was going to overload the phoness camera but wondered what causes these strange colours not visible to the naked eye ? I have also noticed similar things when taking shots a night in urban areas. Is it sensor overload, the lens or electronic circuitry overload ?

A couple of examples

Yep. Lens flare.
Use a lens hood, or otherwise alter the angle of your shot/framing

They should be if you look closely enough but how this appears will vary from lens to lens.

And don't use a filter unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks everyone ,I wasn't sure what it was as generally when I've had problems in the past using film cameras when I first started ( dirty lenses) the resultant flare caused a foggy look rather than colours, it was only a phone camera I was using whilst out with my dogs and I was trying to see how bad it would be. that said I had a mess with the image and quite like the look it has created.

Lens coatings are all different which is why you see different colour lens flare. Cleaning the lens can help reduce it, but some lenses are just more prone to flare than others.
