I'm the same. My cmax is 10 years old and beaten up now but its never given me any problems. I'm just as well run it into the ground now.
 
For the past fortnight I've been driving my Dad's old Civic diesel, which is ok except I keep forgetting it has bald ditch-finders and an open diff, consequently I got it stuck in the field at work on Thursday because he grass was damp! Seems snow is no problem but wet grass is!
 
Peugeot 5008 mpv automatic, diesel

Love It. Loads of room, very comfy and decent mpg from it.

I would love to change it now though as the diesel car value is gonna drop dramatically soon, but just can't afford to
 
since my last post on this thread the wife chucked the idea of going for another ford Smax or a galaxy

and decided on one of these

BMW series 2 220D luxury grand tourer Xdrive

picked it up last Saturday it seems to drive well and has all the usual refinements
time will tell if it's as reliable as the Smax
 
Why we are talking BMW I treated Myself again 435D with almost very conceivable extra BMW do.

No picture as I haven't taken one yet, but I recently bought myself a four year old Renault Twingo. Mostly out of frustration as the door lock mechanism on the Boxster failed with it locked, so I couldn't get in (nor could the AA, or the local main dealer) so it was sat on my drive in the way. The remote on the key doesn't work, so I ended up smashing the side window so I could put the key in the ignition, press the central locking release button on the dashboard to unlock the deadlocks and then use the internal handle on the door to open it up. It's pretty annoying having to deliberately do hundreds of pounds worth of damage to your own car.

The Twingo is slow (only 90bhp) and being turbocharged the throttle response at low revs is .... odd, but it turns in nicely due to not having all that weight up front, zero road tax and uses about half the fuel of the Boxster on my daily commute, so I'm probably going to keep it for commuting when the other car is fixed.
 
My trusty CMax 2.0 TDCI died, well, the power steering did and at 13 years old wasn't worth repairing.

Replaced now with another ford, the relatively rare Ford Titanium 1.6 ecoboost 150bhp

I hate these cars when they go past me on the motorway full throttle and I've got my window down. The noise doesn't hit until passing and if I don't see them coming you jump out your bloody skin!

Same with the 5.0 V8 FFRR.

Mine's the Sportbrake version of the above now. Did have the 240PS saloon until a month or 2 back - the bigger (marginally!), more powerful (10% or so) version is about 10% less thirsty...

That's what I've got! I wanted a petrol but there's only the rather expensive and limited run XFR-S 5.0 V8. Will probably go back to a saloon after this and get the 3.0 V6 supercharged petrol as the suspension etc is all the same whereas the V8 has an e-diff, very expensive suspension etc. Gives me the fear if it goes wrong.
 
If I could have found a fire breather, I'd have that instead. Took me a couple of years to find any V6 Sportbrake locally - found a couple of lower spec fours but they didn't have the toys I wanted! Since I have no plans to (ever!) visit cities with Diesel bans in it, I'll stick with the V6 Diesel - plenty under the right foot anyway and lots more to the gallon! Just wish we were allowed to use them more at the moment!

Glad you went with the V6, it definitely suits the car beter and the tuned exhaust certainly helps! Apart from the inlet manifolds I believe it's actually a very good engine. It gets the usual slagging for having Ford heritage but I don't see that as a bad thing as Ford have a huge amount of experience.

I've had mine over a year now and put about 15k miles on it and I've had to change the battery. That's it. I've done a few preventative maintenence things and servicing but nothing has gone wrong, which surprised me!

Great car though, over two tonnes with passengers but handles fantastic.
 
Had my saloon for 7 years and sold it with its original 10 year old battery. Front window regulators were the only things I needed to replace other than a couple of suspension bushes that got done under warranty at its first service with me (4 years old). Headlight bulbs are a bit of a PITA but easier than some Renaults!
 
Ah I forgot, I did have the front n/s door regulator done but it was at the time of purchase and under warranty.
 
What car do I drive - nothing at the moment but I do have a BM320d M Sport and Fiesta ST Line loitering on my drive, along with a Honda NC750X DCT motorbike also gathering dust. The BM has had the recall done (Exhaust valve thingy) and I've done 25K in a year, bought 3 yrs old and still had 1 year warranty left but the recall wasn't done under that, so far that's all. Fiesta (wife's car) does very little mileage, looks like a battery charger is going to be needed for all 3 soon.
 
I've got a little Oxford solar maintainer charger thingy which I rotate among the bikes and Mrs Nod's M-X5. It's (the charger thingy) got a battery condition indicator and a charging indicator so I can see how things are and once a battery's up to full green (TBH, they usually are), I swap to the next in line.

Mazda 6 tourer GT Sport Nav+ (has shed loads of extras), 2.4 diesel mile muncher, and Fiesta 1.4Tdci Titanium for station car/local shopping. Neither getting much use at present but the Mazda has been perfect for the weekly runs to Basingstoke where I've been working until the present hiatus.
 
Had a recent change, having written off the countryman at the end of Jan. Bought a 12 month old Skoda Karoq 2L diesel - it's comfy, smooth, quiet, easy to drive, has great load space (for my mum's mobility scooter) seems reasonably economical at around 40-50mpg and has 4WD for the occasional snowy patch we get. It's far from exciting (nothing like the Mini - that made driving fun) but it's pleasant and encourages me to drive more patiently and to be tolerant of those who lack confidence and drive slowly.
 
TBH, the Jags have both helped me be patient and tolerant - they're a nice place to sit! Great sound system, comfortable leather seat and climate control (and I think I could play DVDs in the current one while the engine's off - will have to have a play while I can't find a real need to use the car!)

I'm guessing you have the top spec Meridian like me? 825W 15-channel and 17 speakers of bliss. What setting do you use? I like the Meridian one over Dolby, I think the vocals are clearer and better positioned at the centre speaker. Mine plays DVDs no problem and also videos from the USB stick, although only DivX. The battery power saver shutdown is annoying unless you leave the engine running. The screen isn't really good enough to warrant using it over my mobile phone, which I use instead and run through the speakers.

I put a fire stick in mine, the Hdmi input in the centre console :). I have the digital dash as well, that's pretty cool.
 
Meridian of some sort and I've set it to what sounds good to me - my hearing aids do slightly odd things to sound so presets rarely sound good to me! I just stick my ipod through it over Bluetooth for the ease of control. TBH, I doubt that the video bit will ever get used but it's another toy to play with, I suppose. Mine's relatively early for a Sportbrake - 13 plate.

Nissan Leaf 40 now. Ditched the Zoe as I was fed up of the heater not working properly and it was worth more than I paid for it the year before. Never had that happen with any other car.

Heated seats and heated steering wheel are the dog's danglies. Also having a heater that actually puts out any heat at all is quite a thrill.

Due to space constraints, the solar panel has to face North but even during winter it was pumping out 12.5+ V. Now there's more sunshine, it's 14+ V measured across the terminals but it apparently self regulates (and I'd guess that the current is pretty low anyway!) I had a spare Optimate pair of crocodile clips so I soldered them onto the Oxford ones so I can plug the Oxford charger in through the Optimate fly-leads that I have on all the vehicles.

On our walk yesterday, we saw 3 delivery vans - 2 DPD ones and one Amazon one. Here's hoping for yours tomorrow! An extra day or 2 shouldn't make much difference anyway.

Had a mail saying it will be with me tomorrow, if they are right I am very impressed as I only ordered it at 12:30 today. Mind we have a really good DPD bloke. Either way I'm not fussed, all the vehicles are ok at present, so a day or two wont matter. Soon as I get it the flippin Sun will go in behind thick layers of cloud anyway.
 
It'll still maintain them. First got it when I had the Rocket III. That had an alarm fitted so there was constant drain on the battery. The solar doohickey kept it topped up to full even through a winter of disuse.

If the speaker labels have 'Surround' after the Meridian then it's the top system. Came as standard on the `S' version I believe.

No idea :) 18 plate Rsport with a massive problem with two things, the diamond cut wheels which keep having me over the edge, I have OCD when it comes to wheels and these keep getting crap under the lacquer and going cloudy, have spoke to jag, I think they are going to have to be changed to none diamond cut, they have fixed these 3 times now. the other issue is the lag, stick your foot to the floor from standstills and there is a second or two delay before anything happens, terrifying at roundabouts when you are trying to get our quick.......

I drive my JCW two footed if I think I'm going to need to get away quickly, left foot on the brake and bring the revs up to around 1500-1700 before banging the loud pedal all the way and stepping off of the brake. Quite effective....
 
I just wait until I don't need to accelerate that quickly.
