I've got a Focus 1.6. Had it for about a year now. Good economy, I'm 19 so crucially the insurance isn't too expensive and it's not too bad on petrol either (up to 50 on a motorway run, 40-45 normal use). The picture is from my Blackberry so it's not great.

That ones a bit newer than the cars I used to run in my younger days - a couple more Wolsleleys - (1957 1500 and a 1958 15/50) plus and old 1940 Plymouth lead sled, which I have to confess never saw much of the road whilst I owned it.

Agreed with Nilagin.... Remap, Intercooler, Lowered, Decat.... the 1.8 TDCi 115 jumps to 146-150bhp with those mods!!!

On a certain tuners map that i know of the BHP stays above 130bhp all thru the rev range, peaking at 146...

There no slow coach once they've been mapped!

Clan Crusader, logbooked for stage rallies. It will have a 998cc engine, twin 40s, R23, 1.4" / 1.12" valves and all the rest of the goodies so good for 9000rpm and a "bit" more, plus transaxle with straight cut 3rd and 4th. New alloy pulleys turned up today, they are sat on my desk looking very shiny . It's a bit lighter than a standard Clan as well.

Should plod along quite nicely when I finish putting it together .

no! Has to be an Imp engine and in any case to use a Zetec I'd be looking at a Hewland mk9 or somesuch and the work that would involve.

Subaru Forester 2.5xtn. Remapped, cat back hand made exhaust, kn cold air intake. Now pushing out close to 300 bhp which makes it a very quick estate car lol. Only downside is the crappy mpg but I have the lovely boxer burble so a good swap!

My Mondeo ST TDCi also makes a burble which is similar to a boxer at times, (Custom made Stainless performance exhaust) ok it's only 190bhp in comparison to your 300 but still fairly quick, and I get around 59mpg average over a tank.

I average about half that but it is great fun to drive.

Worst car ever drove was Nissan Qashqai 1.6 petrol...just got it it's crossover looks..buy was 2 x 2 drive...just hated the pick-up and hill-starts when fully loaded..so bloody under-powered..may be a 4 x 4 version may be better..anyone with similar issues??

On my 1.6 Focus now 09 model...just love the stability and pick-up !!

The great thing about the Mondeo is that it handles so well for a big car too!! I love those mondeos!

Even though it handled great before, it's even better, lowered on Eibach springs. I tend to forget how big and heavy the car actually is because it handles so well.
I do find myself looking for excuses just to go for a drive. I even drive further than I need to sometimes just for fun.

My dad has the same car, albeit standard (despite my not so gentle hints about remapping etc) and he is always surprised how it handles. It's shames many more expensive cars in the twistys!!
