What car do you drive?

W reg Nissan 200 SX Touring S14a, bought new in March 2000. 73k on the clock and going well. The only extraordinary expense was an intercooler pipe. It's had a new exhaust, battery and discs/pads and I'm only a little way into my third set of tyres.

Before this car I had a G reg 200 SX S13, bought at 2 years old and kept for a further 8 years before trading it in for the new car.

Once upon a time I dreamed of having a Skyline GT-R, but at 48 years old and with no immediate plans to change my current car I think a Fiesta diesel is more likely when the time finally comes.

Snow and this car with summer performance tyres do not get on well.

Clio 182 Trophy, which looks like this today:

I'm a Scirocco bloke myself, though it's been under snow for so long I'm starting to forget what it looks like.

Wonder if it's still there...

lots of small engine super ps models now...my present one is 1.6S 105ps

guess that 20 valve on you have can really go:love:

just had mine and a mates back in for a tweek on the maps after a few bits fitted, his made 225bhp 240 ftlb on standard unleaded and wrong plugs mine made 201bhp 225ftlb with a boost leak and faulty boost control valve which is all sorted now ,fantastic fun to drive i normally change my car at around 6-8 months i have had the golf nearly 2 years now i have more fun in the golf than i did in the wifes old subaru .

Well, my Mercedes is being repaired (waiting for repair) after a lorry changed it's shape and I've just taken delivery of a brand new pretty courtesy car, a Peugeot 3008, which is a crossover car (whatever that it)

I'm distinctly not impressed:'(
No built in satnav and nowhere to stick one on the windscreen because the bottom of the windscreen is an unbelievable distance away.
And the grip on slippery roads is non existent...
Very good heater and fairly high driving position, so I suppose I should be happy but I'll be glad to get my Merc back.

I do have my Maverick too, used it on Saturday to go shooting, great fun going down a very steep bit on the track that then turns sharp right across a little bridge with not a lot of room for sliding. A few inches of fresh snow on top of ice and a sharp camber sending the car the wrong way didn't make it any easier. I dreaded going up that slope on the way out but it turned out to be a piece of cake, I just put it in 1st gear low ratio and it chugged up perfectly on tickover. Unfortunately the Maverick has an intermittant starting problem, so she's going into the garage yet again today, leaving me with the unimpressive Peugeot...

Don't forget: it's pronounced 'Pew-Jot'...we'll have none of this French namby-pambiness...

However the pile of French plastic is pronounced, I'll be glad to swap it back for my own car:)

Garry, can't comment on the pew-got but on scenics, which also have those miles away screens, I have found that having the satnav on the lower right hand corner most effective as long as your cable is long enough. It doesn't affect vision out and even my short arms can reach it if I need to.

Speaking of french stuff, we currently have a laguna estate and an old clio auto, plus several inches of snow. The Laguna, with its 45 profile tyres is going nowhere.... and trust me, we are both very capable snow drivers but it wont shift, even with carpet under the driven wheels, it only just got into its parking position. The clio on the other hand, with its squidly tyres and underpowered engine/box combo has made very light work of the inclement conditions. Had a right job squeezing all the kit in the boot for Saturdays wedding, but boy am I glad I did!

Same here: I routed the power-cable over the top of the steering binnacle.

Although, bizarrely, I have the Sat-Nav in my Mustang (LHD) in the screen centre-bottom, so it's in the same place relative to my postion.
I tried it lower-left, but it felt all wrong.

I have to admit that initially it felt very odd, the only previous occasion I had driven a car with one there was a skoda vrs thingy and it drove me mad because the screen angle meant it really did interfere with vision. Now its perfectly normal and I put it there in any car I drive. The next LHD we get into the workshops might have to have a test drive to try out your theory Rob

In its defence, the Laguna is the dog-taxi with tired old dampers, a dragging clutch and ultra-cheapo tyres ... but it did come for free, zilch, nothing - abandoned by its previous owner 2 years and 8000 miles ago!

It was still humiliating that for the very first time in my life I simply couldn't make a car move anywhere on snow!:bang:

Even so, have some self respect, man :naughty: :exit:

I can really rub it in, I got back from this wedding on saturday in the clio and anounced that taking the Laguna out was a non-starter, having driven it on an inch or so on friday and had it every which shape as any signs of grip had vanished into the ether. He swears he wasn't doing it to prove me wrong **insert one of those mooning smilies**

It will now be totally drivable once onto the road off the drive, the roads have now cleared a little, it was just yesterday morning when the snow was as thick on the road as on the back gardens. Don't really see the point though while we have a very good little car that is infinitely more capable.

230bhp Mazda 323f with a converted 323 GTX turbo JDM block :) fun!

These days I drive a 325 E46, not as fast but fun in the snow!

We used those at HQ Land Command as 'staff' cars and I have to admit even as a Blue-Oval man through and through, they ain't half bad.
Better than the Mk 3 Mondeo diesel I thought...
Make sure it's the 1.9-litre SRi and not the cheaper 2.0-litre jobbie though; that was rubbish...

I've got a VW Passat company car which with a 170hp diesel engine is unbelievably useless in this weather!

We also have a BMW Mini Cooper S Works car which is even more useless, that's undriveable at present as the front bumper acts like a snow plough with all the snow in the middle of the road!

I love seeing these on the roads, such a shame they are so rare.

Here is my VX220, have had it nearly a year as a daily driver. :)

Thanks. I love how rare it is - it turns heads. People either loathe it or love it or are just totally confused as it doesn't fit their Audi/BMW paradigm but whichever reaction it makes, I'm happy to have a car which provokes one.

The VX220 is stunning; my friend has the 2.0 turbo and it's superb fun! Happy xmas

This has been quite handy with all the recent weather... hasn't missed a beat and has coped with everything I have thrown at it, including a trip into the New Forest last weekend with the specific intention of trying to find something it couldn't cope with !

Funny, we had one for 4 years, sold it a couple of years ago now, but oddly started to miss it recently - the bone rattling suspension, the cushion because it was the only car I couldnt see over the steering wheel in, the tram lining and bump steer, the wind noise from those lousy roof seals, the breaking down in whipsnade zoo and leaving it with the wolves for the night! :D Happy days indeed ;)

2010 Honda Civic Type R GT LSD. More practical than the Mini Cooper S that it replaced at the start of November. Although the fuel economy is lower and it dare not risk it in the snow.

Excuse the picture, good ol camera phone!

Golf GT TDI for the present, soon to be replaced with either an MG ZT or a Rover 75 connoisseur as soon as i find the right one,oh and a 2007 Fireblade for fun (which incidentally is getting replaced with a Ducati 1198 next year)

Audi TT 2.0 TFSI

Love it, although it's a bit lairy in the current weather on those wide low profile tyres.

I sold this about 5 years ago now, but still think about driving it more often than I should!
