What can i do to boost my veiws ?

Post them to Twitter, Facebook, and on this Forum. Get involved on groups in Flickr.

Use the bbcode off flickr:

flickr%20upload.jpg

As said previously, join groups on Flickr. Found that helps.

just dont post to crappy groups that require you to post 1 and comment on 5 etc etc.. as all you will get is flashy group badges with no comments or effort made at all..

a couple of good active groups i'm in (weekends only though)

http://www.flickr.com/groups/1481688@N20/ slider sunday.. for processed shots

http://www.flickr.com/groups/1367767@N25/ cliche saturday

both good groups for getting feedback and comments, nice communities.. there are others similar, macro mondays, fence fridays - not in them but do see people getting involved and commenting on my contacts photos in those groups

I post mine in the relevant groups eg - Chester, Cheshire, Canon HDR, Canon Photography and so on. Alsways tag you locations (add them to the map)

Really helps

May I suggest not GeoTagging // uploading photos while on holiday as it just goes to help people know when you're not at home.

Post images of tits, the non feathered versions will probably work best. :)

Some relevant discussions on Flickr from a while ago.. link

But your basic problem is:
  • You're not posting enough photos, a little and often maintains interest with contacts and people that come across you - generally that means no more than two or three images per day (one is better) and at least one upload a week
  • You've only got five contacts, when you find someone whose style you like make them a contact - they may reciprocate - and make sure you're leaving them comments and viewing their images
  • Tag images and give them proper names, how will someone stumble across a golf photo calles "img_3268" and not tagged with "golf"?
  • Join some useful groups (see the link above)

More peoples images you comment (pat on the back)
The more comments youll get

BTW views and comments dont mean they are fab images, flickr is just a pat on the back site, no real crit, just great shot brilliant, super shot, thats awesome, and the like

I'll go ae a look at your flickr now

One of mine hit explore today...views have gone through the roof...over 1,000 and rising!

Doesn't mean much though, as most of the comments are as Just Dave said, but I've made a few good and interesting contacts out of it.

A cheeky sly way is to "favourite" other peoples images, and then when they see you have Favorited they a) usually feel compelled to "favourite" something back and/or b) at very least will have a look to see who it is thats just "Favorited" their image.

A bit back handed but something people usually dont think of :)

It's a bit of an ego boost to receive views, but really, it means nothing without critical feedback.

I wouldn't worry too much about views...instead, concentrate on finding other photographers who can offer constructive critique.

If you want serious critique, then post on here instead, or join something like Google+ where there are some great guys willing to spend time and effort to help improve your photography.

Don't mean to be a party pooper but what's the point of 'how many views' on Fickr ?

Genuine question......

The theory goes, the more views, the more comments, the more chance of a comment that's something other than an "attaboy" and a pat on the pack.

Plus there's the ego boost. That's a big thing and easy to get hooked on.

But for pure Flickr ego boost just join one of the ego spinach groups.

One of my friends spends all night on flickr commenting :bang: thats why he get so many pats on the back,(60 or more per shot) means nowt to me how many comments I get and the ones I do get are genuine comments, well some just do it so youll comment back

It just shows that your shots are being seen, by how many and sometimes where from. If your getting a lot of views on a shot it shows you've either got something right.... or perhaps something very wrong

I have noticed that too...

I've actually found Flickr to be most useful for posting images here, and more recently to show friends some images as & when, I'm less & less worried about views (which is good *** I don't get many  )

pretty much nothing. four of the most viewed images on the digital slr user gallery are mine. why? cause they have half naked chicks and I've been on there since the website started. big ego boost but gas no real bearing on my skill etc

Have just left a comment on one of your shots so posting on TP has helped :)

The thing with flickr is to make yourself known; join groups and get involved with some discussions, comment/favourite other people's work, just generally spread yourself around.

Disagree - Comments yes but surely a 'view' comes before deciding whether it's right or wrong ?

has its pros and cons.. its a bit of an ego boost for sure and like you say some good contacts can come from it but on the whole its mainly fluff and check my image out type comments once you hit explore... two of my photos that made front page and #1 on explore are the ones that I find using google image search blogged to death and plastered all over websites so kinda glad I never get on there now ;)

I thought the same at the start of the year. I did all the groups/tagging/geotagging/contacts malarky and somehow went from about 19k views to 126k views in 9 months or so.

Now however I don't really care how many views I get. I've made contacts with some decent togs whose stuff I genuinely like and if they comment critically on my stuff which they often do, then all the better, but if not then I don't mind. I just enjoy looking at other peoples' photos and getting ideas for settings/composition/locations etc that I can use and try to learn more about so I can become a better photographer. :)
