what camera settings

i have a 50d and have'nt really bothered to change any of the in camera settings and was wondering if there was anything worth changing that would/could inprove my shots. in short do you guys change the settings if so what changes do you make?
 
have a read here. should be a good start.
 
thanks thats a great start as i have noticed a lot of noice even at iso 800 i thought it was me but now i know i can get away with blaming my tools :lol:

what about picture style settings i.e portrait mode ect is it worth changing the settings or are they pretty much spot on?
 
at the risk of a barracking of comments against me, I have just traded my 50d in for a Nikon d200, I have to say I ended up disliking that camera with a passion, I 'upgraded' from my 30d last year, something I now deeply regret.No matter what settings I used with it , I could never get the crisp,sharp images I got with my 30d.
 
that would be a b****r if it was down to a simple setting as above just changed mine and can notice a diffrence allready
 
I have a 40D and the only settings I have changed are for shooting in jpg. All I have done is increased the contrast and sharpened. Other than that the settings are pretty near the default.
