Yes
BT have managed to give me another 1/2 meg this weekend, might not be anywhere near as fast as most of you in towns but where I live which is about 4 miles from the exchange and sharing with the village up the road it is mega fast compared to what I had only a few months ago.
Well pleased.

I'm paying £18 a month for this........

I'm too far from the exchange :( But my isp has just announced an upgrade from (upto) 8mbps to (upto) 24 mbps at no extra cost. Can't be bad for a tenner :)

Here we go...out in the sticks a bit and about 3 miles from the exchange with overhead lines. Not sure why it says C&W though...I'm contracted to Orange

Not bad for living in the sticks, about three miles from the exchange. Beats my last place: five miles from the exchange and I got 0.5Mb!

Mine

But I'm using Ethernet over power to link my lappy to my router, then pushing my web traffic wireless to a proxy and back to the router over wireless again to keep my web traffic off the work vpn connection. So all in all I'm quite pleased with that :D. I'm rated for 5.5Mb downling and 444Kb uplink

Virgin 10 meg..... but I regularly seem to get near to 20meg

edit.

thought I'd try it again...

DU meter that i have running (network speed monitor) shows it peaks at 30meg bit.

Mine goes up and down depending on the time of day. I checked my line length once and I'm sure it was under 1K feet to the exchange, but the actual copper wire itself is very old.

There is no cable here and there never will be as we have been told that cable expansion has ended, if you have not got it your not getting it EVER.

To Maidenhead

To London

This fairly typical of what we are getting - about 1.5km from the exchange on an 'up to' 8mb connection. At quiet times it can go up to 6.0/6.2mb.

Here's mine. O2 20Mb service but this is the normal speed I get, not too bad.

tiscali 8mb, supposedly.
if i was to try it between 6 and 12 id probably get a tenth of these speeds.

Looks ok to me, except that I am with Virgin and not Telewest

Thanks, that would explain it, I don't keep up with who buys who!!!
