The photo book

not helpful for exposure or anything but it will help with composition and inspiration

you can get a mini version for about 7 pounds

well worth it!!

Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson.

i know its good cos I seem to have lost mine and im miffed!! :D

Joe McNally - the moment it clicks. Not for everyone but some proper inspirational stuff in there. I also like the Scott Kelby books for photography and photoshop.

Yep, I love his books. He does some beginner books called Digital Photography, vol 1 and 2 IIRC and I like the way he gets his points across. Seem to resonate with him although these are too basic for my current needs but perfect for the beginner...

Have a look at them in your local Waterstone's and see what you think.

I've got his book on Lightroom and it's superb, like above books.

Thankyou for the help i will look at all of these then decide what i want too get

Understanding Exposure for me too - I read again this weekend, a brilliant book!! It won't teach you about your camera, it will teach you how to take photos!! :D

:agree: also try this by scott kelby https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_/026-4316666-8558845?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=scott+kelby&x=15&y=18 from amazon he has a laugh and joke and the books are written as if your his mate and hes telling you the short cuts to good shots and explains what/why hes doing it i found it easier learning the in depth things after reading this and other books by him . hope this helps :)

Think im not the only one who recommends him :D

Understanding Exposure is definitely worth a read, a very useful book.

My only gripe with it would be the author constantly telling you how much money he's made from shots, he is rather fond of himself I believe!
