I have the Lowepro Flipside 400 that is starting to look a bit tired around the edges so looking for a new bag.

I got the Manfrotto Backpack 20 free with a camera purchase last year and it seemed perfect. But the hip strap is rubbish, there's nowhere to carry a water bottle and the side pockets are quite small! Also it's a real squeeze to do it up when I have my 5D iii with 70-200 (and hood) with any other lens in it.

Does anyone really store their lenses in their bags without lens caps and rear caps as the image adverts seems to suggest?

I'm just looking at the Lowpro Pro-runner BP 450, anyone use it?

All advice appreciated.
 
Tarmac expedition 6x and 7x and a billingham 335 for me and a couple of others hidden in the wardrobe

Would love a billingham 550 but the wallet says no ( SWMBO'd))

I use a Thinktank glass taxi and love it. More than I wanted to pay but so glad I did.

While that must seem like overkill they all get used regularly apart from the Flipside 500 as I am not a big fan of backpack type bags, have only used this one when traveling. The Stealth reporter D550 is my favourite and gets far and away the most use.

Been through a few camera bags and currently just have a small kata bag - bought on TP I believe and a lowepro 400? Backpack. Like the kata as very light and bright yellow lining so easy to find small bits and bobs. Would not buy a bag without external pockets for a water bottle, wife does not seem to mind so much if I bring the camera as long as I am the water carrier.
 
My main bag was a Tamrac but when I moved over to M4/3rds I changed over to Kata bags. I have three various sizes which I use plus a backpack which is too big for my Olympus stuff and is no longer used.
Kata made super bags and some can still be had around on ebay and some other sellers. I don't know why Manfrotto killed them off. I think they were a superior bag for the price point/quality.

Have a Domke F-5xc for walking about. Great internal division options and the canvas material is tough stuff. There are zips and very loud velcro to keep the main compartments safe from unwanted fingers!
 
I use a Think Tank airport international v2. That's a roller bag though, so not much use if you want a backpack.

That's not a suggestion, that's just what looks better in a product photo.
 
Like most, I have a few :)

I have the Lowepro Flipside Sport 200 which caters for most things. It takes 2 bodies & a couple of bigish lenses. Or it keeps my 7D & 150-600 secure on my back.

I also have a Thinktank Streetwalker Pro, that's good for 1 body, around 3 lenses and a few bits & bobs. Both this and the Flipside sport have excellent straps, which when carrying heavy kit is a must.

I also have a couple of smaller "everyday" bags.
 
Camera bag is a Domke F2

Speedlight kit bag is a Lowepro Pro Trekker

Travel bag is a f-Stop Bandon

Had all types in the past and settled on these.
 
I have the Manfrotto Pro Light Backpack 3N1-35 PL. I'd previously had a cross over strap type bag (can't remember the name) plus my tripod in a separate bag and walking up hills was a struggle. This one make me look like I'm tackling Everest but I can attach my tripod and get everything in it for a day in the Lakes which is perfect for me.

Yep, I've used Domes for the last 20+ years. Great bags, never use any other brand.
 
I use a Tamrac expedition 8 which is great. The camera doesn't fit in there perfectly but it's good and safe. I got it for free at the end of the day so I can't really complain about it but it gets a lot of use and chucked around all over the place and is in very good condition.
 
I've had many different bags but the Lowepro pro runner 300 AW is my current and has been for about the last 2 years.

Lowepro Photo Sport 200 AW for the great outdoors and Think Tank Retrospective shoulder bags, a 30 and a 10, for everything else, because they don't look like camera bags.

EDIT: If anyone has a black Retrospective 30 and wants something smaller I can swap for a 10 as I've really need a pair of 30's now :D

another vote for the think tank retrospective, great low key bag (and they do pretty much any size you could want!)

I've had a few LowePro bags and they are ok but not exactly stylish, and I've got a small kata for full weatherproofing, but other than that the ThinkTank gets used
 
I use a larger lowepro when off on a big trip, but for those short trips out, I use an Inside Line Equipment Photo Bag Mini - hand crafted in California and something just a bit different but really cool and useful ... I do go out and about on the bike a bit and this is where I came across these guys .... and no, I am not a hipster ;)
 
My wife is convinced I have a fetish for camera bags...
The one I've had longest is my Domke F4 which looks decidedly aged these days (like its owner). There's a Lowepro backpack that's just a store for my remaining film gear now plus various Lowepro holsters, etc. The ones I actually use are both ThinkTank Mirrorless Movers: a 5 for my Fuji X30 and a 30 for my RX10. The 30 holds the camera with the hood in place, a flashgun and a bottle of water plus space for a 10" tablet if required - perfect.

lol, and when do these 9 bags get used simultaneously?! If they're all full, I hope you're insured!

They're certainly not all full of photography gear. I've got VERY broad shoulders and no longer need to go to the gym. :p

I've found the Tamrac pretty good but love the Think Tanks :)

Ha! got loads of bags, but the ones I use most are;

Lowepro flipside sport 10L, if i'm out walking the hills, as i can't carry too much for long periods of time as i have a chronic back condition ( 3 knackered discs!) usually have my camera with 70-200 on, on a BR strap, and two lenses in the bag.
Really like it as it has a compartment for a bladder so i can drink on the go, and it's light, has a waterproof cover. very expensive for what it is, but fits the bill perfectly.

Tamrac Pro 12 if i need to carry lots of gear short distances.
Best bag I've had, simply great! can fit 2 pro bodies plus about 5 lenses, flashes and all the usual accessories. Loads of pockets, really well thought out and designed bag. Picked it up off ebay in mint condition for £70

Also have a Peli 1560 which is great too, but that stays at home keeping the gear safe.
 
Bags are such a personal thing, and one can't do it all. I have a few too:

My daily bag is a Billingham Hadley Pro....It is becoming nicely worn now, and it is one of those that gets better with age in my opinion...I also use it as a laptop bag...

My other bag is Billingham 555, doesn't get that much use although I did take it out on the Nutter Meet the other week and it was perfect for holding my Mamiya RB67 with a few lenses....

I sold my Kata Bumblebee a while ago, cracking bag but I just don't like backpacks, I want the contents to be accessible without having to put the bag down...
 
I've tried a few over the years. I've ended up with only one now, a F-Stop Tilopa BC. It's a good bag and very versatile with a large pro and XL pro ICU. It's within carry on size (definitely if I take out the ICU and the folding bag goes in the hold luggage). I have the two ICU's setup for longer lens wildlife needs and smaller kit for landscapes/portraits. Changing ICUs is easy too. I can also the bag without an ICU if I don't want to carry camera equipment. The newer version has additional side pockets now which I can see being useful.
 
Another FStop Gear fan here, I've got a Guru and a Satori EXP, with small and medium ICUs, they've been all over the world with me.

My current daily bag is an FStop Gear Shibata, although it is going to be replaced soon, as it doesn't fir my MacBook. I like the look of the new Tamrac Derechoe 8, or possibly a Retrospective 7.
 
Use a Think Tank Retrospective 10 as a shoulder bag, hard to fault, love it. Bought a Manfrotto back pack recently too, sometimes easier than a shoulder bag and a bit bigger. I've had a Kata and a Lowepro flipside in the past but prefer the manfrotto, feels better made and better designed.
