Evening. I’ve recently developed a bit of a love of Landscape/seascape photography, and had a bit of an issue early Sunday morning when photographing the sunrise at Walton on the Naze. This issue has never come up for me personally before. I needed to take my backpack off to find a filter, but didn’t want to put it down on the wet sand while I did it (first world problems)

I was using a Lowepro Mini Trekker, so front opening. Cue big faff trying to locate said filter in the main compartment.

So, long story short, I’m looking for a new bag. It will need to be rear opening, and maybe have a waist strap so that I could keep it attached to me while I move the bag around to my front to access the main compartment. It doesn’t need to be huge, it just needs to hold an A7riii, 2 or 3 small primes, a DJI Mini 2 with controller, batteries, filters etc

I don’t want to spend any more than £100. Suggestions/recommendations greatly received.

Cheers

Nick

I use one of these Lowepro flip side sport 15AW tripod holder works a great on the side bag is massively waterproof, holds for me two 1D size bodies 3 medium size lenses maybe more depending on how you pack, and bunch of filters, not sure if they still new but can be found online for under £100

I`d agree with Bobsyeruncle on the 300 OR 400 flipside ..

I personally have the 300 Flipside and have to admit, for my purposes its excellent and I suspect it`ll do the same for you .. The little Zipper compartment in the image (4th image down on the link) at the Top of the camera body is removable so gives even more room , which means if you wanted to have a 70-200mm mounted onto your camera body in the bag and ready to shoot then you can do that,, its fairly well padded , nice comfortable shoulder straps , Nice colour in the Green Camo , all in all a very very good bag for outdoor use - it also has a built in rain cover..... Just my personal experience .. Lowepro Flipside 300AW pixel camo

hope this is of some help

Have a look at the Tenba Solstice range, they also open at the back so the pack can be laid down safely.

I have the smallest 12L size, but they make larger 20L and 24L sizes which would better suit your requirements,
A Tripod fits nicely in one of the side pockets held in place with the compression straps.

I use the Flipside 400, but for slightly different reasons. As I'm in a wheelchair I carry it on my chest, so when I unzip it, it sits nicely on my lap whilst remaining strapped to me. I think it's a great bag. It's not cheap, but worth every penny IMO.

flipside 400 aw... had it with the nikon lenses, reconfigurable inside, plenty of pockets and spaces for tripod, bottles of water etc... belt around the waist and back opening for lens selection/swapping... best one so far.
I just hanker for a smaller bag when I only want a few lenses and none of the extras ;) may be this year...

I recently got a Vanguard Veo Select 46. I went for it because it had lots of options for different access, can be side, top or front loaded. Currently has a promotional discount so you can get it for a little below £100.

Do you have any real life pics of it? Looking at tripod carrying functionality.

Thanks for that. I did have a little look at those on Amazon this morning, and the size I would need, looks very ...'long' :) I have a Tenba messenger bag so I know they are well made, but I dont think this one is for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

Interesting, thank you. Ill check that one out also.

Seems to be a lot of love for the Flipside range. Ill do some more research (YouTube) on those :)

Anyone had any experience with the Lowepro Protactic range? I know they are a little more expensive, but they look pretty solid.

Not but I can take some. There is a little pocket that comes out either side (but neatly stows away when not in use) that holds the tripod and has a little clip so it isn't flapping about. The pocket isn't quite big enough to fit all three legs of my tripod so 2 go in there and one sits outside. Also, there is a pocket on either side so you can choose which side the tripod goes on and you can also carry a water bottle at the same time (I couldn't find another similar bag that would hold both a waterbottle and a tripod).

I have a large plastic bag in the outside pocket of my bag so that if I don't want to put the camera bag down on wet or muddy ground I put the plastic down first. I can also use the plastic kneel on etc. when done I fold it mucky side inwards.

Pics attached, fold out 'pocket' for tripod feet.
Also forgot to mention has a fold out (from underneath) waterproof 'cap' (attached at base and to pull up over the backpack).
so another plus for 400aw :)
