what bag to buy?

I've got a couple of Slingshots, and very nice they are too if you like that style of transport, and have a fetish for loads of zips and unnecessary pockets.

A completely different kind of bag, a more simple shoulder bag, is the Crumpler Muffin Top 7500. Seems very popular round here - you'll dig up quite a bit if you put that into search, with lots of pics. I like it very much for a small outfit.

Think carefully about how you are going to be using it......walking long distances usually calls for a backpack of some kind, just for comfort, but a shoulder bag is fine as long as not heavy.

Crumpler do loads of different kinds, from small to massive. I suggest that whatever you get, you get one slightly larger than you think you will need....believe me, they fill up rapidly!!

My smallish bag is a Crumpler and the label says it's a "three seven daily". It holds a body with a medium telephoto attached, and has room for my flash and a spare lens and has pockets for batteries, cards etc. It also has a large pocket in the overflap that is useful when travelling. The whole padded area comes out....though I have never used that facility, but it does mean you can also use the bag for other things.

My larger bag is a Lowepro Mini Trekker and that can swallow absolutely loads of stuff and is my favorite, though not easy to access gear in a hurry.

Go to a large store and have a good look......internet photos can be misleading.

I've got the Fastpack 200 - it's plenty big IMO. Fits the camera with kit lens, 2 medium zooms and possibly a wide. Room in top for a waterproof coat/food. I use it when I'm walking, but it's a bit too bulky to carry around everywhere, especially if you only need the camera & one lens. I also use a TLZ mini when I want to travel light.

I use a lowepro toploader when I just need to take the camera + lens. Amazon is doing a deal for the 65pro for £30 :)

Good advice

OP is in Cambridge - pants for camera shops. Best display by far I've seen is Warehouse Express in Norwich, not a million miles up the M11. Got me Billingham for Chrimbo there

Ive found that the Slingshot 100 is a good bag but soon fills up.
Mines crammed with only a 28-135 lens fitted to the body and a 70-300, then 2 hoods stuffed in.
As said i'd go for a slightly bigger bag than you think you'll need, and i suppose it depends on how much gear you want to lug about. The one you linked to was also slightly cheaper than Amazon.

I just bought a lowepro slingshot 200AW off ebay for around £40.
It soon fills up like said, it does carry everything you will need though, in mine is my 400D with kit lens 18-135 and 75-300 with a couple of hoods and spare filters a couple spare batteries spare sards etc etc etc.

All my other kit is in another bag and then I just swap round as needed.

i had a look in jessops/currys today at the slingshot 100 and 200 and i think the 100 will be big enough for what i have. i need to do some more saving before i can get any new lens etc.

i have the 17-85 on the body and can carry the 70-300

thanks all
