What are your photography plans for the new year?

Educate my wife that taking good shots when we're out takes time for me to get right...

I'm going to try to get a shot published in our local rag , I've sent them a couple before but no luck as yet !

I'm also saving for an sb600 and want to learn more about flash

I'm going to get back into to photography properly and also do more with off camera flash

My aim is to learn more about my D5000 and use it to its full advantage and also starting to edit my raw images in photoshop

Four years after my last back operation it has apparently decided to go downhill again so instead of doing so much photography to suit clients I have decided to take photos to suit myself and market my skills as a retoucher as I can do this without the contortions needed for photography and it is something I enjoy.

If anyone has any ideas on how to advertise the retouching and post processing side of photography for others I would be delighted to hear your ideas :)

To actually pick up the camera a bit more often and start shooting more regularly again.
Life has kind of got in the way over the past few months and I really need to rediscover what I love about photography again I think.

This is me, too. My aim is to make time to get out with the camera and to then do something with the best images, rather than leaving them on the computer.

I'm going to do a couple more things,

1) Get out and shoot more for pleasure
2) Do more of these "Painting with Light" pics...

Planning on getting back into the wildlife photography. Really lost my passion for it. Long story short I've been very down for the last few months....not being able to get a job is pretty much soul destroying especially seeing as I graduated this yr with a very good grade - and I'm not talking about togging jobs, I'm talking about being turned down for simple receptionist positions... Money worries, etc and just lifes little worries have also slowly hacked away at my sanity and like all bouts of being low you can lose interest even in the things you love.

However I sent away a picture to the BBC wildlife and to my surprise it has been printed in this months edition. To say I'm chuffed is an understatement. It's awoken the passion I had and realised that it never went away - life has just taken over for bit.

We have Graduates applying for jobs in my Boarding Kennels as assistants which doesn't make much use of University qualifications. At the moment we are having to turn away up to 12 job applications a week from all walks of life, and we are just a small business employing just 1 person.

Finish College with a decent set of Darkroom Prints

Get another film camera maybe a 6x7 one.
Learn more about off camera flash.
Try to get some decent motor bike racing shots.
Look at setting up a darkroom.

I'm going to stop slacking and letting self doubt cloud my judgement, causing more stress, resulting in more self doubt! Vicious circle when things go wrong if you don't stay on top of it. 2011 is my year to take photography to where I want to go with it, not struggle and worry and stress!

New lenses have been purchased and as of January debts are paid off so I'll actually have funds available to travel to different areas of interest. No excuses now, just self inflicted pressure :D

I just need to get out more and take the camera, been really busy with the day job and the camera tends to get forgotton. I want to do more people shots I just need practice.

I am yet to really plan my projects for 2011 but there are a few things that I will definately be doing one way or another:

0. Complete my 2010 A-Z of animals project - I still have nothing for the letters U and X :bang:

1. Build a portfolio website (my OH has sorted out my domain name for two years and I have a moonfruit website to build)

2. Buy a dedicated macro lens and possibly a 70-300 zoom

3. Some kind of nature project - we have two nature reserves nearby and I would like to document the wildlife over the year

4. More zoo photography - OH and I now have an annual pass to Whipsnade / London Zoo so some kind of project seems in order there...

5. Enter the TP Photographer of the Year competition every month - and obviously aim to do well!

6. Branch out a bit - maybe try some landscape stuff

I think that should keep me busy enough!

I'm determined to get myself into gear and start learning some processing techniques.
I'd also like to flog my 100-400 and get a 300 2.8.... But I think the first idea will probably benefit me more! :)

Would like to get into photography like i used to be,and be more confident. Have a project i want too start and finish..... And get into off camera flash.

For me this year I would like to take my photography to the next level and do it for pleasure and a small amount of gain.
Hopefully a friend of a friends promise will stay alive and my local landscape prints will find their way into a local shop.
Not fussed about lots of money, ore interested in getting exposure.

Other than that a continuation of my photographic skills especially in the field of landscapes, portraits and off camera flash work.

As a foot note I hope everyones aspirations and dreams of a photographic nature come true in 2011!!!

Duplicate post - Please delete.

I want to improve my photography, and hopefully get taken on as a MATURE errand boy for a pro togger, so I can learn daily.

Shoot a few more weddings, make a bit of cash but more importantly, get to grips with working with people outside my comfort zone that I have on the mags.

Other than that, do some portraiture. Really don't get a chance to do it with work, so really want to rekindle my love for it.

In general though, just keep progressing :)

Practice , practice , practice. Meaning take loads of pics and hopefully learn loads of you guys. And who cares I am enjoying myself.

Primarily to get out more but I've recently gone full frame and need to get some portraiture under my belt. I have a few landscape trips planned from Feb plus a few modelling assignments.

I also want to spen some time with PS improving my skills here, have already bought quite a bit of literature and will more than likely do a course by the end of the year. The latter part of the year will be purchasing some lighting and getting my head around that, can't wait!

Uakari.

Xenops (do birds count?).

Yep birds definately count - it'd not so much not having ideas of what I can shoot - the problem is getting it done :bonk:

Thanks for the ideas though

I just want to keep doing what I'm doing, enjoying the trips I go on, enjoying shooting, enjoying the banter with whoever I'm with.

For me this is why I keep photographing, sure I'd like to make money but at the end of the day, it's not my bread and butter it's my Hobby and sometimes I think other people forget this for themselves and get wrapped up in it all.

Well it kinds of sounds selfish, but I am going to build my self a permanent hide for myself only, somewhere where I can hide myself away and not share it with anyone. I know, selfish really just a little bit fed up with trying to be kind to everyone and not getting any enjoyment for myself, but I want a "me" place, and have the perfect site for it on our private land. Plans will be put into action very soon.

I am going to enjoy my photos I take and not worry if anyone else does not like them etc, so long as I like what I take, that is all that matters. I have decided I spend too much time worrying about what others think, but each to their own - photography is for me and my enjoment, but will take note of advcie and crit. but not take it to heart so much.;)

Also get to grips with P & P, a bit more, try and better myself on this side of things.

must increase levels of awesome. Currently I am not awesome.

Also need to sort out my portfolio and really focus myself on where I want to take my career
