I'm after a cheap mobile video solution. Are there any decent Chinese knock offs that are worth looking at?

depends what you want to do with it ??.

To be honest, 1080p is 1080p, 2.4k is....., nearly all will do this type and be waterproof to a degree, what you really pay for in GoPro's and the like are the extras, slow-mo, timelapse, stabilisation etc.

ive seen results from £25 action cam that are hard to distinguish from a £350 GoPro, but if it's for action stuff then the software starts to play a part.

TBH the cheapest video solutions nowadays is your mobile and a gimbal.

Cheers. All I want is the ability to livestream video off to my father-in-law over in china, he loves car boots and jumble sales so wants to see what we are up to. So, cheap and cheerful that can be linked to my phone for spooling. I could just use my phone but I think I would get better quality from a dedicated cam.

I've just bought one of these: Drift Camera to use on my cycling helmet.
Sold by HDEW Extra and about £40 cheaper than anywhere else in the UK - reported to have 5 hours battery life and takes up to 128GB micro SD card ... weather resistant, microphone, wi-fi etc.

Drift ghost is a very good camera, used to have one on my helmet (y)

Thanks.
Only the top of the range one has stabilisation.
Interesting, all the video footage I've soon from use on motorbikes has been fine so certainly looks good enough for a cycle and definitely for O/P's intended use. :)

One of the most popular GoPro clones is the SJCam SJ4000, to the point where it has its own clones! If buying one you have to make sure that SJCam is printed on the camera body, there's an outer box shown and it costs at least £50. I've used a couple for streaming video from a Lego train at shows with great success.

I do mountain biking and it's very nursery on the trails so would need good stabilisation.
Not sure how much I'd use an action camera so was hoping one of the cheaper ones would have stabilisation.

As it sounds like your not wanting to do anything serious just use your mobile phone, and if you want it to be a bit better buy a cheap gimbal for it.

Another vote for the SJCAM.

I put a SJCAM SJ4000WiFi in the car as a dashcam in 2015.
I wanted to get some footage of a road trip to Pamplona.
Video quality is good enough, but not stellar.
I found the WiFi streaming to the app was pretty good but WiFi transfer of video files was too slow and kept timing out.
It came with a bunch of accessories and fits the same form factor as actual GoPros.

As above be very careful about supplier as there were tonnes of knock offs on Amazon and eBay.

@Snapsh0t - what are you using to stream video - are you using it as a PC webcam or something else?

Sorry about the delayed resonse - currently posting from a cruise ship in the Adriatic.
The SJ4000 provides the WAN, the PC attaches to it and VLC displays the video. It was surprisingly simple..... I did need to rig an external power brick as the internal battery only lasts 45 minutes.
The first time I did this the SJ4000 also recorded to the SD card but didn't on later outings. It's something I must investigate before the next outing.
I think this link should work but my internet package on the boat blocks some things.
