What are the differences between a PSD and a PSB file?

PSB stands for PhotoShop Big file.

PSD file are limited to maximum pixel dimensions of 30,000 x 30,000 and a maximum size (including layers, masks, text, etc) of 2 gigabytes.
PSB files can be bigger - up to 300,000 x 300,000 pixels and up to 4,000,000,000 gigabytes.
(That last limit looks like it might have a bit of future-proofing built into it.)
