What are doing right now?

Waiting for work to get busy again... Browsing here. Looking out the window at the gorgeous day wishing I was out with the camera instead....

i've just moved my baby (poison dart) tadpoles/near froglets into their nursery, and now i'm gonna play with my nw v24 lenser :) :)

Just been phoning around for pre-existing condition travel insurance, since I was pretty sure my current "free" Lloyds bank cover didn't cover the diabetes and brain surgery - turns out I was right! It'll cost me an extra £105.73 per annum for worldwide cover to extend the bank's cover or £228.55 to start a new policy with an alternative company. Since I'm fairly committed to the Lloyds account anyway, I reckon I'll just fork out the extra - got to be better than paying my own medical repatriation should there be a problem that required it! Depending on blood test results (having the blood taken tomorrow, so results should be in a week or so later), I may have the diabetes diagnosis overturned - apparently the meningioma's pressure on the brain might have caused the pancreas to misbehave and send my blood sugars awry - here's hoping!

Spoke to the vehicle insurers earlier in the week and once the doctors have signed me off as safe to drive again, there will be no loading for the brain surgery - will cross the diabetes bridge with them when I rekindle cancelled policies on 6th Jan (hopefully!).

Also booked a couple of nights away in the new year to take advantage of my wife's workplace being locked so she can't go in even if she wanted to!

Feeling like a failure!!!!! But will be doing more for the 1 second challenge after I'm home in an hour...

I am sat on the sofa awaiting the time to come so I can set off to the airport to board a plane heading to Kenya.

Cannot wait!

I'm on the lake at Belvoir Castle doing a photo shoot with 4x world coarse fishing champ Bob Nudd. No fish as yet, freezing and dodging bullets from the duck shoot on the other bank

I'm wondering what happened to the "I won TaV" thread as there were a couple of links to some blogs which I wanted to exlpore further :-(

Wondering if I just burnt my bridges at work. Just announced that I couldn't see a long term future with them and planned to move on once I had found something suitable.

Guess I will find out if my industry reputation is as good as I think it is.

Playing draw something and napping... Waiting for time to pass to try for sunset shots this afternoon...

Sitting in my big, blue armchair waiting for the cat to come in so I can shut the warm air in/cold air out! Sipping a small mug of honey, lemon and cinnamon hot drink. Oh, and seeing what's new in TP land.

Nod...Diabetes T1 or T2?

Laying flat on my back In hospital again, due to my back, waiting for another mri scan as I woke up this morning with no use if my right leg, just dragged it around, and went to gp who sent me straight back to hospital, and I mean straight to hospital not even allowed to go home. I am well and truly peed off, original did my back late august and haven't been able to work since 4 Sept. Never felt so low in my entire life. So may be having surgery today depending what scan shows.

paintin hall stairs and landing - just glossing to do now woooohooooo

Falling apart at the seams. CFS symptoms worst they've been in years.

trying to figure out layers in PS elements 10 and not getting anywhere..:bang:

Attempting to write a literature review on 30 scientific research papers, been going at it so long i'm struggling to write coherently.

Ruth, Type 2. BUT, My GP reckons there's a good chance that the Diabetes symptoms (including the slightly raised blood sugar levels) may have been caused by my brain tumour and that I may not actually be diabetic at all. If it is actually diabetes, it seems to be very well controlled by a combination of diet, exercise and Metformin. (If nothing else, as a result of the diagnosis of Diabetes, I've discovered this weird thing called moderation, and have lost about 4 stone since May. Still got a weigh (sic!) to go before I'm down to the BMI chart's suggested weight of 13 stone but as he says, I would need treatment for anorexia if I got down to that! I genuinely do have big bones and was about 14 1/2 stone at 18 when I left school with barely an ounce of fat on me! 30 something years of good eating and little exercise have taken their toll though.

Nod...No idea regarding the holiday insurance, but as far as the car insurance goes, unless your diabetes is treated using insulin or some other medication which directly lowers glucose levels, therefore possibly resulting in a hypo, (ie if you take just Metformin, or diet controlled), then your car insurers cannot boost the premium on the basis of T2. I know you have other issues obviously, but don't let them scam you on the diabetes :)

Ruth, so I understand from a friend with Type I. Apparently, DM is regarded as a disability so cannot legally be a factor. I've spoken to my current insurers about my pre-existing conditions (the DM and the brain surgery) and the girl on the other end of the phone was unsure so contacted their underwriters who said that once I was signed off as fit to drive by the medics (as regards the brain surgery), I would be regarded by them (the insurers) as being 100% fit to drive, so no loading! Whether they (E-sure) will cover me in what I hope to get once I have my license back remains to be seen. Nothing too flash or sporty, although almost anything is compared to my current drive, a Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6 petrol! Seriously considering either a Merc coupé or a Jag XF. We'll see... Less than 2 months until reapplication day!

BTW, reading slightly between the lines, I hope your DM is well controlled, whether it's type I or II.

I am attempting to get magnetic nail polish to work and failing miserably. Apologies that it's not photography related although I may take a photo of them if I get them right.

About to go and shoot young choristers in the cathedral. Awww! :)

dont buy a lens of ebay is my advice

I've bought almost all of my lenses from eBay and have yet to get a duff. I like the fact that you can get them for £100-200 less than anywhere else if you're patient.

Maybe I've been lucky?

Scanning family slides from yesteryear...

All I can say is...Wow

I never knew my Mam was Olive from On The Buses, or that my Dad was Hank Marvin..:gag:
