Yes
....it was a wrench, but it had to be done - I have sent my camera to Fixation in London to get the sensor cleaned. I was getting really fed up of cloning out the blurry spots in my images.:'(

As I am such a chicken by not wanting to do it myself and from memory, I am sure Janice used Fixation to replace her sensor and they seemed quite friendly and helpful on the phone - so let's wait and see.

I will have to get out my 20D and get practising with 'crop' sensor again.

Aaaah, I know how you feel Gilly but I don't even have any lenses to use on my cameras at the moment so am cameraless for another few days :(

Break out the 20D & enjoy taking some images, I'm actually considering breaking out the 35mm & seeing what I can do with that

Two things
Fixation are great - I have used them several times - your camera is in good hands

You get one free clean under warrantee from canon - did you have it from new?

during the summer (when I do lots of work) I end up cleaning a sensor each week(I have 3 X 1dxxx), by using a blower or swab and once you start doing it - it's ok you just need to be careful

(3 things really)

ive been without my 1d Mk3 since mid last week, luckily the weather has been pants so havent missed it quite so much as i could have, is due back today though :) luckily i have a 20d as back up as well so if the need arose i at least had a camera :)

Went out yesterday without my 5D, but took my "old" 20D with me. Guess what it still takes great pictures.
Had a planned shoot around settle so as the weather was so bad yesterday used the opportunity to simply recce the area.

The river Ribble was in full spate and I found some locations that enabled me take some great shots for myself. Guess what the 20D worked fine.. So don't worry.

Might be worth investing in a sensor brush kit for both cameras. Yes first time is a bit scary, after that it becomes routine. Having said that I've never had much problem with dust in either the 20D or 5D

Saw a sensor cleaner that was in production once that uses disposable 'sticky pads', cut to size, you just gently place it on the sensor and pull off and removes all dust etc, looked great and more safe than dragging something accross the sensor........if only I could think of the name of it!

Do you mean this?

Interesting looking product that is, cheers for the link

Just noticed in the "Dust-aid Dont's" section that it says:

*Don’t use DUST-AID while driving, in the dark or inebriated.

(I'm not going to bother buying any now )
To be fair they do justify such stupid statements with "...in today’s sue happy world we need it spelled out in black and white... Sorry if we offended your intelligence but we can never be too safe." Classic

Thanks guys for all your comments. I know, I know, I could do it myself but the trouble poor Janice got into doing hers, that has made me rather nervous.

I never have dust in the 20D which is great.
