I have a canon 600D and the 430 ex ii flash.

I am trying to set up wireless flashing, and i cant figure it out. Its just not flashing.

When i connect the flash to the camera in the horse shoe mount, it works then.

Can someone help me please.

Thanks

Really? I'm sure it does as i have seen someone do it before,

However i'm probably wrong.

Can anyone else confirm please.

Thanks

Original poster is correct. You will need some sort of trigger or cable to get the flash to work off the camera.

I was using the canon STE-2 trigger, but it uses IR and is crap outdoors (and was expensive). I've just switched to the Yongnou 622 triggers. Not cheap either but it's radio triggers and maintains full ETTL. You can get very cheap triggers if you are not bothered about the ETTL.

Edit - actually just seen that the 600d should be able to control the flash wirelessly so ignore the above!

It'd help if you told us what you're doing? Have you read and re-read the camera manual?
I've been using wireless flash for years with speedlights, but it took me a while to get my head round controlling it from the camera.

I don't think the 600D has wireless flash feature without using separate triggers?

According to the Manual it has it:thinking:

Forums eh!

I'm returning to this because it's annoying.

Why would you offer advice without knowing that it's correct?

I appreciate that the advice on forums is of variable quality, but why do people feel the need to 'help' when they don't actually know the answer?

Rhetorical questions btw.

I have a 600d and you can use wireless flash. I haven't really used it much as I'm still learning but you can get flash to fire off camera. Its explained in detail in the camera manual if you have one. You need to go in to the built in flash settings and the second option is for easy wireless flash shooting. The speedlite has to be set as slave and the on camera flash controls it, you have to pop up the on camera flash to make the speed lite fire.
Still a bit new to me so would be grateful if anyone else can explain things a bit better

Now you have your flash off camera, you need to look to control the size and shape of the light. Putting it through a shoot through brolly is usually the first step. Set the ratio to 2:1 as a start point, this will make the off camera speedlight the key light and the on camera flash will offer a fill at 1 stop under, experiment with the ratio's or turn off the on camera flash and use a reflector instead.
