Picture the scene. Beautiful, crisp, clear and sunny morning, a hard covering of frost and I'm up and ready to get a corker of a shot. Drive about 5 miles to one of my favourite spots, lug the bag and camera about another mile on foot over the fields, fences and ditches.

Fantastic view, I'm definitely going to get some good ones today. Set up the tripod, clean the lens, mount the camera on the 'pod........ B*LL*CKS!

Left all my memory cards at home.

:bang: I feel for you there Colin :bang:
I spotted some great opportunities this morning but didn't even have my camera with me :bonk:

Well I havent been there...the thought is SO scarey for me that I always upload to the pc with the lead....never taking my card out therefore no chance of forgeting it. I have such a bad memory that i can easily see myself going out and leaving the card in the card reader. :cuckoo:

aye..been there....

i've done it too.

except i was lucky enough to have one in the second slot :)

Tut! whar a silly bugg*r, of course I havent been there!!!

Noooo! I always keep a memory card in the camera!:D

I do however, err, ahem, forget to charge the battery on the odd occassion! :embarrassed:

 - must be an age thing, always have a card in the camera thats what I always do, not much use to you though :p

Theres always tomorrow :D

Never done that myself Colin (yet !), but it can't be as bad as taking a load of shots (all superb of course....:suspect:  ) and then the memory card becomes corrupted so you can't download them :sulk: .
believe me, that really IS anoying

Yeah, ALWAYS keep a card and battery in the camera!

It's still -2c here! looks the same as when i went to work at 9am!

I once went on a shoot, took all my equipment and left my battery in the charger at home :/ Was tempted to go to the nearest Jessops and buy a new battery!

oops!

I suppose it was fortunate you weren't on one of your freelancing/paid portraiture sessions Colin ...

You will be so, so paranoid about memory cards now ... :gag:

... and end up forgetting something else next time ... :naughty:

:p

Have not done that but once left home without a battery - doh!

Every time I go flying my checklist is longer for the camera than the aircraft:cuckoo: :D

Well that's certainly one mistake you'll not make again.

I know it sounds daft but I keep a check list in the camera bag. How often I actually look at it is another matter of course.

Walked 5 miles to a great little waterfall, heavy tripod in hand, couldn't wait to get there ....

... Set up the tripod, then went to swing off the rucksack containing the camera, Oh (insert all the known swear words and some made up - here) I've only left the rucksack in the boot.

Also, there is a sticker on the back of the camera that says "Check ISO" you can guess why.

Personally i make sure there's ALWAYS a memory card in the camera, and there's ALWAYS a battery in it too :) If i take a card/battery out then i leave the door OPEN so i know it's not in there! I'm a bit paranoid about this now, haha. I have formatted full memory cards before - that can be somewhat annoying :(

Yeah, I would of punched myself in the eye,... Most definately.

Kng.

I don't think that even someone as daft as me would admit to that

We've all been there mate (Admittedly, my one time..I remembered and turned the car around a few miles into the trip).

I expect to do it again in the future...lol

Liberalis, your story made me giggle too.....Forgetting a memory card is one thing. You could even be excused for leaving the camera out of the bag at home...
But forgetting the bag? Top notch

I once went to photograph a sailing event with a bag full of lenses :cuckoo:

The camera was sitting ontop of my desk...

I can relate to this - during the carlisle floods I went out down to an old railway bridge at the river just as high tide hit the solway so the river was at its highest, had to cross bogs, and push trees out the way - got to the bridge and yep - no card! A once in a lifetime flood (hopefully) and I had no blooming card in the camera.

There was loads of folks there so I thought i'm sure to see a pic of the bridge in the flood. Never seen one yet - and thats 2 years ago.

Never forgotten a card since :D

i recently drove for an hour to get to a favourite spot just in time for sunset, set up the tripod in a prime position, took the camera out of the bag, and wondered why the quick release wouldnt clip onto head.

found the quick release plate next to my pc when i got home. i now have a spare living in the backpack.

I've never done that...oh no. Absolutely not. No Sirree - never.

Well, ummmm......maybe just once!

Good thing though - you'll never do the same thing again!

ive just come back from sweden, amaxing place, lots of snow (before it melted!) and so much to photograph.... i only had my old oly C750Uz with me and i cant help but think that it hasnt done my pix any justice, or atleast done them justice like the 20D would have.

amazing place, shame i spend 16hrs a day working eh!

will try to post some pics at some point though

ive not done the memory card thing, but i have done the battery one!

i think its one of those do it once and never again things you'll do once in your lifetime, like not putting the pins in on the bonnet of a WRC car.... ahem!
