This is one weekend I NEVER want to repeat...

Went to hospital 7pm on Friday and was there till 4am Saturday and found out I have kidney stones.

By far the most painful thing I have ever gone through

Had those once in my early twenties.
Pain was so bad it caused me to fall down.

Oh no - it's quite a simple op to get rid of them though, my mum was out in a few hours and fine.

Had two lots now   was told that it is the closest thing to child birth that a man will experience and my partner reckons that they were worse

You have my utmost sympathy - been there and it was horrendous. Never again. Are they going to operate or did they give you the 'tube' widening medication !!!!!

I've had stones twice now. The 2nd time, they passed through but the 1st was the worst. I had the Iodine X-Ray scan to see what was going on but there was an infection in the kidney so the consultant said he needed to look inside as he could not see the number of stones.

This involves a procedure called Cystoscopy and luckily you are asleep for this. The camera goes down the end of your ..cough..cough...cough.. through to the bladder and onto the kidney to see where the stone is located. If there is a blockage and the consultant in my case thought it won't come out on it's own, he inserted a stent similar to the one's used to widen the Aorta. This allows the stone to move freely and exit in it's own time.

The pain when you go for your first leak after sugery, I can't put into words. I was stood on tip toes with my fingers embedded into the tiles. :runaway: The nurse said after 'localised trauma'.

Had the stent in for 5 weeks which caused problems as usually, the body holds fluids back in the kidney before passing them onto the bladder. With the stent there, it was like an open valve causing the bladder to fill up faster. A couple of times I was driving back from work and nearly had an accident because of being stuck in traffic.

I hope you get everything sorted. If you had the scans/X-rays this weekend, hopefully they will call you in soon to either check that the stone has made it's way out naturally or to book you in to sort it out.

All the best,

Adam.

Thanks for the messages. Everything seems fine now (thankfully). I just ache slightly.
The hospital we went to was the worst I have ever been to, we got there at 7pm and I checked out at 3am.
We didn't get a bed and from 10.30pm till 2pm I didn't see anyone so had no idea what was going on. My worst pain at the moment is where they put the needle into my hand as its still brused

Thanks again:thankyou:

been there twice myself , the first time was quite funny in retrospect , i was off work taking the wife to work and then dropping the kids off at school , i didnt feel too good the day before , didnt think much of it , all of a sudden a mile or so from the wifes work i just had to stop the car , called an ambulance and we were all on the way to hospital , the paramedic said do you want to us to drop the kids off at school , so i said yeah as it was on the way , couldnt have cared less at that point to be honest , so we end up at the school and out trooped the kids  ,then i am into A&E and was at the point of being taken for a scan when i needed to pee like never before , i filled 10 of them cardboard bottles , how the hell i hadnt burst open is beyond me
