No names - obviously - but there's a couple of prolific posters on TP I find boring and/or annoying, and I'm sure you do too

I actually got to the point where if I saw these peeps had posted last I wouldn't even open the thread :(

Then I discovered the 'Ignore" button and Hey Prestatin my enjoyment of TP has suddenly come back :D

What's even funnier now is that I can see others mention them but I can't see why - bliss :banana:

So I urge you too to 'tidy' your viewing of TP by using this FAB little button :)

And if you do it to me too you won't even see this post - how ironic and cool would that be lol

It's very useful. I use it a lot. It's still a bit strange when someone quotes an ignored person though. It comes out blank rather than having some kind of indication they aren't just talking to themselves...

I feel sorry for the boys that take so long to find such a magical button. Good on you Suz for openly admitting you find it 'useful' ;)
 
I have four plus one who's since been barred on my Ignore list going way back to 2014 I don't miss their posts at all.
 
I'd imagine the mods would know the top offenders. I don't think they would be daft enough to release the list as I'd imagine all hell would break loose!

I bet I could name the OP's ignored :D
 
It also doesn't work FOR them - they have to be able to see cockwomble postings.

Ditto. I'd resisted using it for a while. I shouldn't have.

A few threads may seem a little disjointed and a few folk may receive bad advice which goes unchallenged but there's no real downside.

But that's a bit stiff and needs a hammer to apply!

Life's too short to bother ignoring people with the button. Besides, some total wankfuffin/cockwombles take nice postcard snaps and it would be a shame to miss them.

Only one person on here that really annoys me, I've learned to just grin and ignore their posts, or if the subject doesn't interest me
ignore the entire thread ;)

There's just one individual I ignore here, and it's transformed the forum. It's not that they didn't sometimes have a worthwhile contribution, but that sometimes reading their posts just wasn't doing any of us any good.

Its amazing really, we've been telling people to use the damned thing for years, instead of getting wound up about other posters, their posts or the way they post / things they say.

It does seem from a comments lately ( and not just this thread) that its being used more and more, which is a good thing from our PoV.
It saves so many arguments, RTM's and dummy spits (y)
 
Unless someone was personally harassing me, I wouldn't use the ignore button, I can't see the logic, especially if threads become disjointed. If I was annoyed at an individual I just wouldn't respond/comment or read their threads. tbh if I was thinking about using the button, I'd have to question my own personality & reasoning.

I found it strange, then quite amusing, a few weeks ago, I got a PM off an individual on here (someone I actually met once & who's images I enjoy looking at) to tell me I was on his ignore list! :LOL:

I've never even disagreed with this person on a thread, let alone in real life. :wacky: The only thing I can think of is posting a `like` or a :LOL: on another individuals post when questioning tactics or having a joke @ this person.
If all this individual wants is constant praise & smoke blown up their arris ............ crack on, it's no loss to me & actually just shows how touchy & defensive some folk can be with certain subjects/practises. :rolleyes:

I must admit that I agonised over this... I used to visit a car forum and on occasions it was like wading through something not nice but I managed not to ignore anyone and then when first visiting TP I thought you lot were a bunch of inoffensive over polite little angels. Over time though and maybe also as I've grown older I just can't be bothered with agro now and I've reached for the button twice now and although I still think it's a shame to use it I have to admit that I'm glad I have.

And for anyone who can't read this... life's too short for me to care :D

Which is exactly what I did, and doing so led me to the conclusion that if this person died and hence stopped posting I'd be happier :)

As I can't actually kill them myself, nor afford for someone else to do it, the Ignore button is as close as I can come

YAY for the ignore button - saving me reading their crap, saving me money, saving me jail-time :D

I've never used the ignore button before, so I thought I'd give it a try. The topic list looks a lot cleaner now as any threads they have started have completely disappeared.(y)
