Tonight was the awards at the Inverness Camera Club and as I had missed the last three weeks due to illness I was unsure exactly how I finished the season.

Well you could paint me pink if I wasn't already that colour as I had to get up THREE times in the night. It appears I won the "Macleod Quaich" for the highest number of monthly credits in competitions. The "Elana Mae Trophy" which is an annual colour or mono print portfolio competition. Lastly I shared the "Stephen's Brae" cup for best mono open subject print. What a feeling after never having had any success in competitions before!

Finally one of my prints was chosen to represent the club in a Scottish Club battle and I was beaten to another trophy by a print which was given a gold medal at the Austrian Super Circuit.

A well earned wine is being drank right now! :D

There is no doubt that putting images up here and getting critical feedback - even feedback I do not agree with - has helped me become more decisive about my images and my approach to capturing my photographs. I worked to a theme which roughly paid off although there was a few surprises (not necessarily bad) and have a better feel for what a judge will think of my images.

Next stage is national and international comp (apart from the invited comp which I must do as part of my win) possibly RPS then I fancy a change in about 12 months time.

Hows that for a plan?!!! :nuts:

I originally typed "a change of focus" but spotted the pun and deleted. What I mean is that I have tested various aspects of my photography and this part (competitions) will continue to be a central part of my efforts for the next 12 months however after that I would rather put my efforts towards more personal photography projects.


Like flying a paramotor over the South Pole ;)

Hey congrats m8 I'm pleased for you! As for your next project, how about a paramotor trip over everest? You could call yourself Bear Scotland and film it :)

Janice - these are annual prizes based on a seasons work and there are a number of images. I will have to scratch around to find them all but will resolve to post them once I have figured it all out. :thumbs:
