Well once again, the feeding frenzy of rude, arrogant and downright disrespectful photographers spoil what is supposed to be a enjoyable weekend fo a lot of people.

Even the vicar of the church ended up telling a load of them off, and all you heard from them was comments like 'what's his problem' 'what's it to do with him' and one particular comment from a typical GWC was 'F off p****!'

This is getting to some of the same level of actions that was happeing at the seal sanctuarys.

In some way I hope the splitting up of the weekends, is the death knell for this event (shame as it is) it woul serve a lot of these twots right !

your gonna have to help me.

WGW?
GWC?

Gotcha!!!

It seems to be a problem with a massed gathering of photographers, a kind of group mentality takes over.

Out of interest is there a name for a collective of photographers?

Eh?

Vicar??

Seal sanctuarys???

Well, in this case they are living up to their description, SNAPPERS!

I'm still intrigued by the seal sanctuary?

Honestly, what could go down at a seal sanctuary??!

I think you missed the thread where "photographers" got too close and harresed the seals at a beach donna nook? (not sure now) it wasn't so much the serious togs as the happy snappers mostly but they were getting far too close.

Ah I see, that would explain that then!

Where does the vicar come into it?

This all sounds very strange.

What are these group gatherings which you and others speak of?

Vicars, seals, stairway gatherings?

Do they chant as well?

Something to do with the Goths, but what exactly I don't know, sound like he was telling the togs off maybe?

Edit-.. Had to read that again.... Thought you said ....... Goats!

It sounds like something out if the Temple of Doom - "ummmm dummmmm shavaaaarrrr!"

This was brought up last year and Les McLean put together a code of conduct after talking to the WGW visitors.

Had to bite my tongue many a time as other photographer walked in front of me...and I'm not small. It's always a small number that spoil it for the rest.

I think somebody got the goat anyway.... maybe it was those men who stare at them....??? :)

Foggy I love the code of conduct bit, how do you enforce it? hide their lens cleaning goth (hee hee)

Well to clear up a point, the church of St. Mary is the one at the top of the steps infront of the abbey. This was the vicar of this church that stopped the group that I was on about in my post. I think there might be an official complaint go in this year after this incident.

WTF is this thread actually about ?????????????????????

about some of the idiot photographers out there and seem to go to events like the whitby goth weekend and the seal sanctuary cant remember the name

but i belive it is a venting thread if not to warn these plonkers if they are on here , i know a few of here go and i know most will use there brain

as above i went last year and most were good but there is always idiots

to be honest i enjoyed seeing these people but the photographer's annoyed me at how they acted and were more concerned about a model then the general public who were been disturbed

Rude togs harrassing the goths at Whitby weekend just gone ,and the vicar of the church telling the togs off . I was going to go but very glad I didn't now as it just seems sometime even if yo are there you are tared with the same brush even when your not involved . It's just a shame that the rude people spoil it for everyone .

I think it meant to be done as a flyer that the Goths could hand to the Photographers. We need them more than they need us, all they have to do is stop cooperating up at St Mary's and it's game over.

I've read the rules, heres a summary: Ask before you snap, no means no; even if they say yes be prepared to delete the pic if the goth doesn't approve. No gang-snapping, some goths get nervous. Even though the goth is scantily clad, snacktime pics are disallowed. No close-ups if pizza drips into the cleavage.
Include the ugly goths in pics, ugly goths have feelings too. Don't take pics of kids (WTF are kids doing there?). Don't take pics of goths climbing stairs, they may look unflatteringly red and sweaty and it's also dangerous.

BTW, this thread is worthless without pics.

Remember, goths can smell fear and will become aggressive if cornered or they are protecting their young. On no account should a goth be approached during the breeding season. If a male goth moves into a new area please be aware that it is not unheard of for it to devour the offspring off its rivals so be prepared for a bloodbath.

Come to think of it, I might have got them confused with lions, but better safe than sorry.

It's a shame some photographers have spoiled it for others, but I'm not sure I'd be impressed to be given a flyer telling me what I can or cannot do in a public place? we have laws governing that.
What exactly did the offending togs do wrong?

I went yesterday and met Foggy.

To be honest I did not see much poor behaviour, just the occasional ruck of togs around one subject. Generally, it was fairly quiet yesterday compared with the Oct weekend.

There is no excuse for the behaviour reported and I agree with Les's code of conduct. However, impossible to enforce. Common sense needs to prevail before we destroy a great opportunity.

Well you would have thought Donna would have come on here and given her view of it all. :D

Is she the one with the goats or just seals?

A goat, a seal, a vicar, and a goth walk into a bar.....

Sorry I'm still confused. Is this trying to restrict photographs in a public space?

For the op I would say I am sorry that some of the togs there wre not respectful and that is both to the people their and the santacty of the church. I went in October and found the people their generous with the time and patience. I love the event and hope that it continues and that a minoirty do not spoil it for the majority.

I am hoping to make it there for this Sunday.
