Yes
My mother in law is on the wheelchair and she spends most of her days at home.we go visit her regularly but due to work commitment, we can't stay with her all the time.

Her dog is her only company, unfortunately her dog has just passed away,we all are very sad, especially her.now she becomes very lonely so we would like to get her a new puppy to company her.

Does anyone know any good kennel /breeder for westies in near Lincoln / Nottingham area? We have thought about adopting one from RSPCA but westies doesn't come too often and it is the only breed she prefers.

Thanks for your time reading this and if you happen to know anyone has a westies wants to give away or good breeder, please let me know.

Thanks again.

have you looked on the kennelclub website adverts for assured breeders
Link
we just sold our Shar pei pups and for us to be registered as assured breeders you have to meet certain criteria and offer free insurance for the first month of the puppy's life once you buy him/her.

This is one of the girls we kept, she is now 5 months old this was tken at 2 months old

we now have three
the wife wanted to keep two from the litter off the mother.
when we move home both girls in 2 yrs will have a set of puppies
so on and so forth.

but it is proper hard work

Due to the busy work,I dare to commit anything to a dog.shall have to wait till work gets stable, then I can have a dog again.

Now the priority is get my mother in law a new pup to company her.

Hoftwi, if you are looking for a dog for you mum, I think a puppy might be a little too much for an older lady in a wheelchair to cope with. Having got a puppy in the last year (and I'm an experienced dog owner) I actually realised how much hard work they actually are...

if pup gets a bad tummy (and they invariably do) she may have to get up 4 or 5 times in the night... and dealing with housetraining can also be a huge issue if puppy isn't a quick learner (one of ours took over 3 months!!!)

How about considering giving an 'oldie' a home? They've gone through housetraining, puppyhood, and are now just looking for someone to love them and many have lots of years left :)

this is their website, please do consider them... and the dog you get will be a 'known quantity' which can sometimes make the difference between happy harmony and stress and emotional suffering.. for both!

good luck with your choice and I hope your mum finds a loving companion soon

well i hope you have success
another good site is pets4homes.co.uk

but please only buy if they advertise as assured breeders, so you are not just buying from some poorly looked after mutt from someone who doesnt know what they are doing.

Thanks HopefulM, it's not necessary to be a puppy and I like adopting animals too as to give love and care to them which they deserve!

I will have a look at the website you gave me and hope to find one that she likes!

P.s. she is not an average old lady, she likes staying up all night, just has a few hours sleep while the housekeeper is there during the morning! it won't be a problem for her to look after a pup, the more time keeps her busy the merrier!

Thanks for your advice again.

Google for 'Westie Rescue'; looks like there are quite a few looking for a home.

This, definitely!

I've worked in an animal rescue for 5 years, and adopted a 7 month old Dachshund puppy on Saturday. He is hard work — worth it, though!

Another +1

We've had a couple of westies in the family and they are a complete pita when young and tearing around/into stuff they're not supposed to etc.

If you're sure she can cope then an older (and trained) animal may be the best idea for someone in a wheelchair.

Agree with HopefulM but have to ask, is there someone who will be walking the dog twice a day?

Thanks all for the advices and comments. Tried to convince mother in law today to adopt one instead but as expected that she would prefer to go buy a puppy.

I see loads of loving dogs in the website provided above, if it is not I am that busy at work,I would have adopted one already!

At the meantime, we just have to pop over to see hee more often and hoe she will change her mind for adoption.
