Anyone have/used one of these? They look pretty good for the money (£99 on Amazon), just curious as to whether you can open and close it without completely removing the front diffuser?

I've got one and it's okay for when I'm travelling light and shooting with speedlights only. You really have to remove the front cloth to take it down, but that's not a biggie, it's easy to fit it. The main drawback is that if you're using it outside, it's BIG and you need a meaty stand and sandbag. Which kind of negates the point of a lightweight little brolly-box in the first place.

For indoor stuff (particularly if you're shooting at low power and wide apertures) it's got a really nice quality of light and the egg-crate grid is totally worth having.

Thanks, I have a voice activated light stand that negates the problem with size/wind (and beefy stands/sandbags too :-) ) - its the speed I can put it up and down, size when transporting and quality of light that I'm interested in mainly. I'll be using quadra's in it rather than speed lights....

Oh, I've done that, too. Just mount them on an umbrella swivel and it works really well. I find it best to leave the multifunction cap on to soften things up a bit.

Orb arrived today and looks good, bit daft how short the shaft is though! Thanks for the tip re the cap, haven't used that for ages.
