Evening All,

We're coming up to Scotland for a couple of weeks holiday in August.

Already sorted a week out stopping on the Isle of Arran. (Good choice?)

But needed some more ideas of where to visit (Photographically of course) on the West Coast of Scotland.

I had thought of a couple of places like Loch Lomond and Oban but really wanted to find out some gems from people who have visited before, or for those of you who reside up there (Dod?)

Need to know some decent place to stay too (Hotels/B+B's)

Thanks in advance............

Anywhere you go on the west coast you'll be tripping over bed and breakfast esablishments. If you get good weather (and tbh even if you don't) you won't be disappointed with any part of the west coast either, your hardest job will be finding enough time to see everything.

:agree:

I'm a good bit further east, most of the time I'm across in the West I'm late for an appointment and don't have time to stop :(

Cheers for the feedback......

Anymore for anymore

If you plan on coming further North check out the images of Skye on the forums today.

I'm heading that way myself a bit later in september... thinking Mull and around there, whale watching too if we can get it in. Anyone done much up that way like that?

Arran is a good choice, especially for hill walkers but all the islands are good.
The Machrie Standing Stones at sunrise or sunset would be nice.
The King's Cave is worth a visit too.

On the mainland some nice spots are Inverarary, Crinan Canal, Tayvallich, Isle of Seil ( connected to the mainland by the Clachan Bidge ), Ellenabeich on the Isle of Seil, Castle Stalker.

Personally I prefer the quieter, slightly more remote parts of Knapdale such as the Point of Knap or Rhuba na Cille.

You'll find some images of the above here;

We are seriously considering a visit to Scotland in the very near future. Trying to decide where at the mo. Finding at all these places above on the map for starters.

Anybody know if there will be any problem finding accommodation (small hotel or B&B) without pre booking? Thinking very soon i.e. before school holidays start.
