LOL - I did exactly the same - went out with £500 quid to get a D80 with kit lens
Came home £500 quid lighter and a grand on the old flexible friend and a ton of new Nikon kit!

hahaha! I'm guilty too... lovely camera that D80, especially that particular edition... :)

Oh, btw turn on Active D-Lighting - its really good, especially for outdoor shots.

hahaha, yeah maybe just say it looked like the D80 and you didn't realise before it was too late??
You gonna flog the D40 to help pay for your new toy? There are a LOT of options for you to use now btw!!
Might try, don't think it will work though:shrug:
and yes i will be selling the D40 soon

Congratulations on the new arrival. I upgraded from D50 to D70s to D80 to D200 now D300. They all look similar, dont think she`s tumbled me yet

Did I type that  that's my camera history, she spotted the jessops bag this time though, how much was that camera :suspect: er £400 oh OK I suppose that's not that bad

what I forgot to mention was the D300 was £400 + the £450 I got for the D200 + the £150 I got for the SB-800

Good job they've all been black or :bat:

Well if you'd bought the D80 for 500 then in 2 years time it would be worth about 200 quid. The D300 you bought for 1000 should be worth about 500. So really, your D300 is only costing you 200 for 2 years of use. It's such a bargain you'd be crazy not to buy it.

At least that's how I convinced myself, not sure if it will work on the lady friend...

congrats mate, cracking camera.

Dont worry if she dont love you anymore, youve got plenty to occupy your self with for a while.

:)

I loved how the photo appeared in stages to help with the anticipation of what you bought :D

Maybe it is because, you went down market. And bought a Nikon (after all it does prove you have no taste)

You've been a very naughty boy and I think your GF should spank you!

Absolute classic i love these stories, you do realise that you won't be able to look or mention anyting that you see for a longgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg time, buy her some shoes women love shoes :shake:

Well I right in the dog house, I thought I try and sweeten her up a bit, so I said how about a bottle of wine and a take away, (Bad Move)
Her reply, what with you've just spent the bl**dy money on that thing ,OOOOOPs

I'm still chuffed with my new toy though :woot:

Just remember, it's easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission!

they give you the old "that looks good, wow look at the pic's it takes" in the shop. so go back next day to buy it (thinking i had the ok). She comes home fines bags and box's all over the place! and guess what, she wernt happy!!!!! cant win!

well negotiations are complete, I have to take her clothes shopping, I did suggest ASDA as it's open all night, she wasn't impressed, so tomorrow instead of giving my new toy a workout I will have to see how flexible my flexible friend is:shake: boy this is gonna cost me

Is there a handy Primark round your way? Preferably nowhere near a Jessops........
well the look on her face tells me if the shop has anything thats marked as reduced or value items in it, we wont be shopping there :shake:
I can see it in her eyes now planing which shops, me thinks tomorrow is going to be a looooooooooong day :bang:

Bloody women:cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:

Nice one. I done a similar thing... went out to get a bag, came home with a D200.
Always feels good to have better gear!

Out of curiosity, why should you have to buy her stuff because you treated yourself?
The mind boggles. I wouldn't have dreamt of asking my ex to spend on me when he got himself expensive camera equipment.

Because I'm Not selfish and £970 is a big treat wouldn't you agree, seeing as I was only supposed to go and spend £500

I referred to the impression I gained that she was demanding you spend money on her to make up for your spending money on yourself, Not on your willingness to spend money on her, nor the expense of your purchase.

she demanded nothing she just had a mega hump at the amount that I decided to spend on my hobby, so fairs fair as I make more money than her, and also its her birthday on the 24th.

Don't forget to buy her the fashionable rucksack(camera bag) so she can help carry your stuff;)

Are you sure your not a bloke?

Well I wouldn't trust a camera brand that didn't know how to spell D80..... hope you enjoy your new best friend ;)

My D200 had a "D70" sticker on it... ;)

Of course it helps that the top of the range D3 has a lower number than her D40, which means that my "D70"/D200 must be a lower model:D:D

This thread reminds me of some woman I used to work with. She would buy clothes without her husband knowing. She'd then put them in the back of the wardrobe. When she wore it and her husband say he'd hadn't seen it before she claimed she had it ages but he hadn't taken notice!
