Wendys 52. Week Nine: Play

Glad I'm not the only one that's chopped an orange this week. Great framing, maybe just a smidge of extra dof though? The bottom looks a little outside the focus field. Excellent shot.

Colour, light, detail, framing and impact all brilliant.
Lovely image! :-)

Hello. i like your week 2 entry. I wonder what it would look like with a blue backround. I love the framing for week 3 the colour is lovely and it makes me want an orange. I haven't been able to get outside this week so no entry from me so far, and i refuse to take a picture of a tin of chopped tomatoes!

smidge of extra dof though? The bottom looks a little outside the focus field.

:agree:

This well composed shot, the colours are gorgeous and it works very well but I have to agree with ranarama - nice shot, I like it.

Thank you so much for all your comments, I agree about the dof, got it slightly wrong:)

I think my fave so far is still week two, had the most fun with:D

Well done everyone who is doing this, been trying to comment on everyones, but time has got away from me this week:bang:......must do better!

:)

Just catching up with some folks 52's and noticed yours. 3 apt shots so far but the 2nd one is a real stand out for me, lovely floral shot with cracking texture on the petals and leaves, your 'Chopped' one appeals to me too, nice vibrant colours.
Keep up the good work.

Tommy.

Mmm - makes my mouth water! Lovely composition and colours. Just a pity the bottom is slightly soft - presumably the camera wasn't quite straight on to the orange slice. Good shot even so, though.

just trying to catch up with people!

week 1 - perfect for the theme, nice crop..

week 2 - love how you arranged them.. I managed to find a poem to match flowers for this theme.. they are great on the black background ;)

week 2 - nicely framed.. the orange looks luscious, wonderful vivid colour..

The framing and strong colours really make this stand out perfectly

I really like the framing and colours on that Wendy, the textures are very good. The only thing I'd say, it looks a little soft across the bottom, I'd guess the DOF hasn't included it.. I think it might look better if the segment is all sharp.

Ok, now I know its a road not a street, but its the best I can do this week, seen a tonne of fab street shots, but work don't like me taking photos, kinda annoys them!:D

Taken with my nifty fifty, which I love by the way, but not sure if the dof works or not?

:)

I like the colours too Wendy. I am not sure about the dof:thinking: I would have preferred the start of the road name to be the point of focus rather than the middle. I am in the same boat as you with work not liking me taking photographs:thumbsdown:

Interesting, would like a straighten firstly, second your focus is oddly in the gap between the words kindof makes it hard to look at... having said that I like the shot, I like the fact you have bricks and gates and so on - looks like the back of Corrie Street!

Also trying to catch up. Love all your shots so far Wendy, especially the orange. Feels like you can almost taste it by licking the screen.

I too struggle with decisions on dof. I wonder if it would be better if you could have extended it slightly to keep all of the street sign in focus, but with everything else out.

I like it Wendy. Nice colours against the brick and a good interpretation of the theme.
I think it might have looked better shot from the other side though - so the Q from Queens was closest to the camera and it read from left to right across the screen (if you know what I mean)
IMO that would have sorted out the "oddness" of the DOF and made it work with the shot more

Glad you're enjoying your nifty fifty . . . it's one of the things on my wishlist at the moment too.

I like this. Nice contrast of colour against the wall. DoF would probably need experimenting with to know what was right and just needs a little straighten on the vertical. Nice spot.

I like it Wendy, the colour is excellent, and really stands out. I think a little more DOF, and more of it on the word, in this case, Road would suit me.

In one sense I think that I shouldn't like this because of the seemingly odd placement of the in-focus area....but actually I do like it.....a lot!

Really struggling for time this week, and next week is going to be even worse, away in aberdeen doing 14 hour days, running around in full kit like a lunatic:(, so gonna have to cheat slightly this week, this wasn't taken specifaclly for this week, but hope it fits the theme, he was going scarily fast:D

:)

I'm really sorry I've got behind with your thread, but from a quick look you've got some excellent shots in the bag already.

Week 5 Speed: Well done on getting a photo in this week - life sounds very hectic, and getting even more so for Week 6.

It's really hard to get close enough to catch these guys - they're so fast! So well done - it definitely fits the theme and makes me think of summer.

Yet another 52 i've missed amongst the many.

Week 1 - nice take on the theme. Fits into curved perfectly

Week 2 - Tulips. good idea ;) Different poem than mine and well taken.

Week 3 - very nice. Intense colours and good composition

Week 4 - doesn't do it for me i'm afraid. Not sure why though.

Week 5 - Fits the theme well. Not quite sure what he is piloting/ sailing/ driving but certainly looks like he is speeding

Keep up the good work.

Don't worry about not taking the shot this week. I am sure we will all have to do the same at some point.

Super capture and definitely speedy. Looks a pretty wild ride.

Cheers, Rob

Yep! That says speed to me Wendy. I like the colours, I like the composition and I like the dof too. Its your 52 and if commitments get in the way of photography, you've got to do whats best for you. Well done

Thanks for all your support guys, I left the house at 0615 and this is me just in with a cup of coffee, absolutley knackered, and another four days to go!:( Having such supportive replies has really cheered me up and brought a smile to my face:thankyou:

Only another 3 to go until the weekend now, so keep smiling :)

Lovely shot for speed. Bang on theme and well captured.
It must have taken some skill to get the timing right.

Don't worry about it not being a shot taken for the week - we'll all have weeks like that and at least it's a good shot and not just a filler.

I like that, there's a good sense of speed there! It's a well-captured shot, I bet it isn't an easy sport to photograph! :)

That's a corker Wendy, loads of speed and implied movement. Excellent.

...:suspect:Danger is present:bonk:

OK, Ok, I admit, this is hard to keep up, but doing my best:D

:)

Certainly thinking outside the box.

Good composition and DOF.
