Woohoo

Just had confirmation from the FA to grant access to the FA Vase final on 8th May

To say I am looking forward to it is an understatement

Was put onto the club list to go down in an official capacity with them but to have it all confirmed and in writing is fantastic

I take it that 'chuffed to buggery' is an understatement then? :D

Congrats!

Worst place ever to shoot, crap Motorway sandwich in a bag with crisps and pop, you better hope its an overcast day as well. Never again for me.

It might be a poor place to take pictures - but, it is an experience to go and take pictures there for the first time..
Hope you enjoy your day there, should be a great day for you...

(many soccer stadiums in UK are better to shoot at on a over-cast day.. not just Wembley)

I'd rather battle the shadow on my return than be soaked to the skin like I was on my last visit there! The only complaint I really have is that getting in can take a little while unless you're at the front of the queue to get your bag checked (luckily, I was!) and that finding your way around the maze of passages once you're in can be a little difficult. Can't really comment on things like the food and other hospitality though, I was just focused on getting myself out there and setup when I arrived.

Well done mate - make sure you take the pics and don't cheer if Whitley Bay score - you'll look like an amateur!!

As club man you will no doubt get a red bib and that gives you a few extras as far as where you can stand to shoot from. The organisation there can seem a bit ott so go with the flow and stay focussed on the job you have to record the day for club and fans. We will have a chat about it on Wednesday.

Thanks all

Gary, don't be to negative. I am flying down :D free flight from one of the loyal fans

Hoping to be there early and signed in as soon as I can, may then wander back out ont Wembley way to get th fans, then players coming in etc

Just waiting for confirmation to as to what access I am allowed as I have heard its same access for everyone which may mean I dont get the "extras" I may get which people have suggested

Well done Steven, enjoy the day and the experience.

I hope you have got your sleeping pills for the Friday night so you can get some sleep.

But thats like saying Wembley is a crap place to play as it has a crap. Many pro footballers know wembley is the pinnacle of their careers and photographers should see it the same way in my view.

I for one would relish the chance to shoot at any premier league ground let alone Wembley as they'll have much better crowds than down at Throstle Nest

Well done Steven have a cracking time down there buddy

Well you lost me with that one Phil, i know what youre generally saying though.

Bad experience for me all day from the minute i walked into the togs room and was handed a brown paper bag with a kids lunch inside it, bleeding cheapskates, was made worse by the knowledge that the scribes were treated to a banquet style 3 course meal with all the trimmings 2 doors away.

Brilliant atmosphere pitchside though.

I've got bad news for you then....

They get paid more than us as well!

brilliant!! i'm sure its going to be as big as a day for u as it will b for the players!! *LOL*

Thank you everyone, still seems alittle surreal

Busy few days aswell with the club and NUFC in the coming days so not alot of time to reflect on it

From a photogrpahers point of view.. first time at wembley.. real big buzz.. like the best ground you could ever go to... you shoudl enjoy the experience especially as its your team your photogrpahing.. it will be hard not to enjoy the experience:)

having dome wembley on a sunny day I would have to agree with gary.. it really is the worse ground in the world on a nice day and has nothing to do with shadows.. maybe it was the time of day or summat but from a purely busness/work point of view not good.. from a photogrpaher photogrpahing his own team at wembley.. fantastic! :)

Yeah its one I am counting down to now

Had loads to do with the club lately which is great, need to contact regionals re something I did last week aswell (Alan Pardew talk @ Whitley Bay FC)

then its onto Sunderland FC on Thursday and the Academy of Light (Training Ground) followed by the game on Sunday, then who knows

Just waiting to here back from the FA now as to what access I get as I may get in as the club photographer which grants more access, dressing rooms, tunnel etc

there are names on the list for access but I am the only one taking pics so can;t see it being knocked back but you never know

Morning all,

Didn't get the club access but I covered more for the club than the person who had it

Great day out, It was overcast when I got there so thought it would be nice, then out came the sun, I can say I don't like taking pics in big Stadia when its sunny lol

Everyone down at Wembley were great to, happy to point me in the right direction, assist etc which is good

Just off to edit some pics, all 1700 of them

Covered loads, fans on the tube, not so much outside the ground as I was running late, then did the team in suites, the lads all came over which started something with the press lads . mascots, teams coming out, whole game, plus after match celebrations and spoke to all of the players, some came over for a chat to which was nice

As gary and I indicated.. its not the best place when the sun is out strong.. when its a working enviroment and your sole aim is to make money you need/want good working conditions and thats not...

But as a fan and club photogrpaher making first trip to wembley with your own team.. gotta be a great experience..glad you enjoyed it :)

Thankfully the sun stayed in for most of the Darlington v Mansfield FA Trophy final on Saturday to my relief. I was just glad to stay dry after I was drenched on my first visit there for the Oxford v York game last year!:bonk:

Glad you enjoyed your first visit Steven.

Thanks guys

Still got a goal, plus celebrations for all three, had to move around slightly as well as shoot into the sun second half, all in all a good day though. couldn't begin to imagine what its like full and full of press. really surprised at how busy it was yesterday
