Hopefully I'm off to the Welsh GB rally for the day next Saturday.
Never been before so Im after whatever advice I can get:D

I do have a few questions which I hope some kind soul can help me with.

1.. Good spots/areas for getting some photos? - the stages they are doing on the Saturday are Hafren, Sweet Lamb & Myherin. Happy to do a lot of walking. Nob question time - since they do Hafren in the morning and Hafren2 in the afternoon is that the same stage run in different directions. I did mention I haven't been before:)

2.. How eay is it to move about when I get there?

3.. And any other useful info please:p

Many thanks

they run the the same direction twice....

Stages are the same for both runs. You'll have the Internationals (about 75 cars), Nationals (about 83 cars) and then the Internationals will be back through again. There will be about an hour between the Inters and Nats and then probably an hour and a half until the Inters are back in.

Walking around shouldn't be too much of an issue so long as you've got to the location you want to be in before the course car comes through.

Once you are out of the main spectator areas you should be free to roam and stand pretty much where you like (sensibly, of course).

If you've not done much rallying before, Sweet Lamb might be a better bet - based in a natural bowl you can see the cars for quite some time - couple of watersplashes, couple of jumps and some nice corners.

Cheers David It will be the first time I've been to a rally for 20 or so years.
Many thanks.

In sweet lamb you'll get a large crowd and access to a few jumps and watersplashes. if you have people with you it's about the best spectating on the event.

I have great memories of the holding area prior to stage start in hafren from years ago. And almost being run over by Colin McRae once too.

I've only been into myherin a couple of times and was never impressed.

I remember when this was a proper rally - called the RAC Rally. It lasted from Sunday morning to Thursday afternoon and visited forests in most of Britain (I particularly used to enjoy the Lake District and Yorkshire forests). Loads of night stages and no pace notes. I used to go every year, always ordered the official RAC Rally pack from the RACMSA. Those were the days!
