Hi guys

I really need a pair of COMFORTABLE |(oh and warm if possible)! :) welly boots. I would like to know which are best. I bought a cheap pair and they just leave me in agony.

All help and advice greatly appreciated. :)

Also, for the recommendations, for each could you please say how the sizing comes up :)

Thankyou!

Kind regards

Sarah

Got a pair of Hunter Balmoral wellies. Awesome bit of kit although not especially cheap. I'm normally a size 10, but I like a bit more room with wellies to allow for thicker socks, so plumped for an eleven and they fit great for me. I love em to bits.

Barbour wellies are lovely, as are the neoprene ones my sister has (so she says) not sure of brand

make sure you get rubber soles not plastic soled 'fashion wellies' they don't grip or flex as well - and you can't go caving in them :D

my le chameau's rock, wear them all the time out walking the dogs and out hunting!

Can`t beat these for comfort, but Jeez, they ain`t cheap. I don`t wear wellies all day anymore so can`t justify the cost, but they are the best, bar none.

they are not cheap but well worth it!!

Barbour (start at about £50), Aigle, Seeland, and Le Chameau. They're all well designed/made for country sports that involve walking. Barbour Town & Country have a gel insole option too. There's also Du Barry, but that's even more expensive. Lots of choice. Have a look at www.JohnNorris.co.uk - they have most brands and good info.

Make sure they fit properly - not loose/floppy - and wear the right socks. They should be thick, comfortable, and cushion your feet; and shouldn't work their way down and wrinkle up. That way lies pain!

Same here: HM The Queen wears them too and if they're good enough for her, they're good enough for me.

If I were doing any walking I'd still go for proper Gore-Tex lined walking-boots and gaiters though...

Seconded, I only wear wellies if I know i`m crossing rivers or if i`m checking certain mink cages ,other than that boots and gaiters all the time.

I wear Huntress version of the Hunter brand. The calf is slightly wider and boot slightly shorter - just for the girlies!. So comfortable, more comfortable ane easier to get off than the insulated muc boot - which are fab...but I would always need a welly puller to remove - not easy in a muddy field!
I found the hunter welly sizes quite accurate, although in the winter, I wear mine with hunter welly socks - fab, fleecy long socks upto the knee, which does make them a little tight.
Have you a Scats countrystore near you? They stock most of the brands listed aigle, hunter, huntress, muc boots etc would be a great start for trying on what fits you and your needs the best.
Good luck with your search.

Bought my missus a pair of these for walking the dog recently, and she absolutely loves them.
All furry lined for warmth and comfort too.

Couldn't agree more, but for general 'kicking about in' I think the Hunters are great, without spending stupid amounts of money.

The only way to tell which brands will be comfortable for YOU is to try them on! I've been after a pair for a few years now and still haven't found any that fit me comfortably. I've visited plenty of agricultural suppliers and worked my way through their entire stock of brands and models without success.

Almost all the time my walking boots do the job perfectly well but there are odd occasions where it would be nice to be water/mud/slimeproof up to welly level.

muckboots, way better than hunters. Totally waterproof, long lasting, well fitting, just excellent.
