So, the club my daughter and I go to is affiliated to the YPU (Yorkshire Photographic Union) which represents the entire Yorkshire and Humber region in the UK.

Every year the YPU have an annual exhibition and assembly, where images are selected from a couple of thousand entries to be displayed at the exhibition. Around 200 prints, and 200 Projected images, from about 3 - 4000 entries all told.

The good news, one of my images was selected and also won a certificate of merit. :)

The stupendous and fabulous news?
My daughter, TinyTogger (Ruby, aged 7) got an image through, and not only won a certificate, but also best Projected image (Young photographers section (up to age 14, I think).

Here is Ruby with the great Andy Rouse, Wildlife photographer, and also the image that she won the award for.

You must be very proud of your daughter - that's some achievement for a 7 year old against teenagers.

Thank you. I am incredibly proud...she's beating the teenagers at this competition, but she's beating the full grown men and women photographers at our camera club - 2nd place in the last competition against 36 other entries. scored 19/20 for TWO of her images. :)
 
That's great Graig tell Ruby well done from me.

I hope her acceptance speech was not to long, as i remember from our TP meet at the sculpture park she could talk for England hahahah!

A great achievement you must be a proud Dad.:)

She didn't have time for a speech, although she got the loudest applause from the crowd when she went up for her award...half the age of any other entrant, see?

This is not really a "finding out" sort of thing...all clubs in the region can be part of the YPU, The Yorkshire Photographic union.
So as a club we sne dentries from our members to the YPU for inclusion in the exhibition. around 200 prints and 200 projected are selected from all the entries, and some win certificates and trophies. Clubs can win trophies too. :)

I don't know whether other regions, such as Oxfordshire, have their own regional Photographic Unions?

But the YPU then selects some of the entries for inclusion in the PAGB (Photographic Association of Great britain) nationwide competition.
