...and I feel like a total noob again :bonk:

I didn't think the transition from bridge camera to DSLR would be too bad but now I see that the learning curve is still pretty damn steep! I'd ask for tips but I'm pretty sure I just need to practice. A lot.

Let me apologise now for all the not that great shots I will be subjecting you to while I get to grips with my new D60... wish me luck :D
 
Hey Daysleeper, don't despair! :)

To be honest it is always the same when you get a new camera. I went 20D-5D-1Ds and each time it took me a good six months to truly get what I wanted from it. ie. being able to visualise the shot and then take it. At that point you know the camera really has become a tool for you and it not the primary concern.

It will take time but sometimes that's part of the appeal. (I can say that now but after having a 1Ds for a week I felt like throwing it in the bin!) :)

And congrats on the new camera :)
 
Good luck matey, once you have gotten the hang of a DSLR you will find it impossible to go back to a bridge or digi cam.
 
The D60 is pretty easy to get to grips with, however, I would suggest you do what I do, and keep the manual with you where ever you take the camera!

Thanks Ali - I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Having a new toy is great but frustrating at the same time. I'm under no illusions that my shots with the FZ8 were great but I could see some improvement over time - I'm just having to start the process all over again.

Thankyou - I've been looking forward to my first DSLR for a long time now but I'm going to hang on to the FZ8, it will always be the first camera that really got me into photography and I wouldn't want to part with it now.

Yep - hopefully it will all click into place at some point... but until then the manual is my friend!

Well done on the move.

My D300 is a steep learning curve but it's been worth it.

Thankyou - the move has been on the cards for a while and luckily it was my birthday last week and the family / OH were kind enough to bring me my #1 wished for gift :)

You are not alone, just upgrading from Coolpix to a Sony A200 and an hour of reading the manual left my brain bleeding out of my ears
