I posted a FS ad in the appropriate forum last weekend for two lovely film cameras, Canon EOS 1N and Canon EOS 3. Both aer fullt working and in good cosmetic condition.

One week has passed and not a whimper of interest.

Now I look at talk F&C and the level of activity has dropped right off: is everyone away on holiday?

Oh well, they've got to go so it'll be EBay this weekend but where is everybody?

I'm here....:D

Me to, if you have a nice Nikon FG and a 28mm lens i'm your man !

I'm just off to bed after a night shift !

h'mm there are no lenses with the cameras how are you supposed to use them :)

If its any consolation I'd snap them both up if I had more than 50p available

I did consider the 1n - but the price I was thinking and the price you were asking were too far apart :)

I did consider the eos-3, but it'd have been as a parts exercise for mine - to replace the damaged focusing screen in mine and have a spare battery grip. And frankly, I don't really shoot ANYTHING frequently enough to need a spare "parts body" - and I just felt it would be a bit of an ignominious end for a lovely working camera, and I'd rather not deprive someone else of the pleasure of using one...

Odd isn't it! Sometimes folk bite your arm off leaving you thinking "could have asked more", and sometimes... nothing... happens... !

I don't have any EOS lenses, I need to sell cameras, not buy more, I'm not particularly bothered about buying into another auto-focus system when I barely use the F100 I've already got and that's in the sale pile anyway because I've decided to go digital for AF.

If it wasn't for that, I'd have been interested. ;)

And I'm here, occasionally. Need to scan some negs and get some pictures posted, I've got 5 or 6 films waiting for the scanner and 3 B&W films waiting in the fridge for developing. I simply haven't had the time recently.

Not a Canon digital man myself, and in general not a shooter of any AF film cameras.

They are very capable, but I have a DSLR if I wanted an ugly, all singing all dancing camera

Replies - woohoo! Thanks guys!

Cymruchris: don't be afraid to ask - I don't bite! RRRRRRRRRRR!

I'm afraid as I know it's less than you want.. I'm just interested in a film bodied Canon - but the other one you have doesn't interest me.. I once had the other eye controlled focus body that Canon did - and hated it... So now I only want a traditional body... It's only an impulse for me rather than a want.. So don't think I can come anywhere close to what you're asking (particularly as I've destroyed one cordless keyboard this week).. So I'd rather not insult you :)

I'll just throw my excuse in then

Canon......just no, moody film artistes shoot Nikon..:p

Y'see you're already limiting your target demographic by only offering Canon.

Hi

I have loads of Pentax cameras and lenses but only EOS digital SLR. Alongside them I have an EOS 300V 35mm (£7 @ a car boot sale) and just picked up a EOS 50E 35mm complete with a fully working BP-50 battery grip for £20. I did look many times at the 1n and 3. Even tapped out an offer for the 1n but twitched and hit cancel.

With my 645, 6x6 and rangefinders I am overloaded with cameras and lenses.

The reuse of old primes and zoom lenses from the film era has made the film body market bloated and I know others who have thrown away perfectly good camera bodies and sold on the lenses. An ignomious end.

A madness I cannot overcome (I have been saving for an EOS 70D ever since the 60D came out (I just knew it would arrive but the £1000+ body only price has thrown a spanner in the works).

If I am honest I love digital BUT I adore film!!!

Got 3 rolls of film to send off to Peak from this weekend. 300v with colour and my LX with B/W. Just through 2 colour fims. I chose to leave my DSLR kit at home. Not even in the boot of the car.

Didn't miss it.

I think for my field work which I do for my living (Environmental Impact Assessment, Pollution Assessment etc) I could not get through my work with just film. Digital photo and video means I can get the work done quicker and in more detail than film alone. It is quicker in PP than chemical development etc.

So yes I will continue with film and at some point a really nice Pentax ME-F will appear with an appropriate lens and I will buy it and use it. (My sister had one and cannot remember where it went or even when she last used it)! Arrrggghhh.

I have picked up some 35mm compacts which I gave to my grandkids and they still use them (though for every dat its the IPhone camera)

My missus wants the spare room back..... luckily I am converting an old workshop, at the bottom of my garden, into a studio space. There is water and drainage so perhaps a dark room......

Is there a set of meds that will cure my madness?

Take 2 CF cards, add to boiling water, stew for ten minutes then serve on a bed of lettuce:bonk:

Interesting

I would garnish with sauté compote of Smartmedia/Xd and MS cards with a balsamic/oil drizzle. May cause wind though....

***Is there a set of meds that will cure my madness?***

Afraid not with film gear going for peanuts :) For me I've photographed everything of interest in a 8 mile radius of my house and until I go on holiday, wedding, party etc or until our grandchildren come to stay with my wife and I, I really enjoy playing with cameras and lenses bought for a few ££s at boot sales.

8 miles isn't very far.:bang: :bang:Do you find you keep going round again and again? I do.

There's not many rolls of film I've shot in the last few years that don't include a few shots of my local tube station

I think part of the problem is that you are selling high end expensive film cameras and this is quite a small market, because there are many excellent film cameras going for around £25 (EOS500 , EOS50 etc) then all but the most avid film aficionados will not be interested at this price however good the cameras are

For me on a bicycle it's enough...there and back and lifting the bike over small kissme gates.....oh and the hills add to the pleasurable torture :)

I agree - have looked at 'completed sales' of 1n's and most haven't sold... One or two bodies went for £75, one or two with the extra bits around the same.. One or two lucky ones got £100-£120.. So I guess it's the luck of the draw.. I'd be interested in trying a 1n but not at £100 plus I wouldn't when there are other good film cameras out there for much less..

The film sales arena seems wayward. On the day I got an EOS50e and matching battery grip for £20 (delivered yesterday and in excellent condition), an EOS 50e in vg condition with a kit lens a bag and flashgun with some filters etc went fof £127 + £10 delivery. Bit of a bidding war but nowhere near that price was justified. A couple of people just had to have it!

Its the quandary of value. Price is immaterial when the value (and desire) to own something blurs the landscape.
