Well, this is post #3000 for me, so I thought I'd try and make it a memorable one!

Photography for me started about 7 years ago when I did a A level in it at 6th form. I carried that through, did ok, and tried to stick with it when I went to University. Sadly, after the first year it kinda died for me, and my kit gathered dust. About a year later, a friend asked me for some camera advice, and I had no idea. But for some reason I found some enthusiasm for it again, and both my friend and I went out and bought D50's. Progress was slow, and the level of material I was producing was frankly terrible! Granted, we all have to start somewhere, but improving with no stimulus was not easy. Then, thank goodness, I found this place thanks to markp! Suffice to say that since then, photography has grown from an outside interest; something to do whilst out, to the main aspect in my life that provides relaxation, joy and entertainment. It's an obsession, and I can't see myself giving it up, in all honesty, ever.

Since being here I received more advice and help than I could take on board, and more inspiration than I could possibly action upon. There are some truly talented photographers on here, a few of which I've had the pleasure of meeting. Which leads me neatly onto my next point. Meets.

The relatively simple act of meeting up with other photographers has given me two fundamental things. Inspiration and confidence. The latter of which I was in serious need of if I was ever to improve. The first meet I went on was the London meet on the 26th October last year. There I met EdinburghGary, Foggy, Fabs, Shutterman, Darkstar, Blapto and tdodd. Absolute top bunch of chaps. From this trip alone, I've made three good friends, whom via various means I still keep in touch with. Then came all the subsequent meets in London, Focus, Highlands, Brecon Beacons and Dorset, where I met a whole host of other people, all of whom are quite honestly up there on the list of the nicest people that I've had the pleasure to meet, and it's thanks to this that all the forum meets I have been on have been absolutely fantastic. So to those people, I thank you!

There are a few specific people I'd like to thank though, for one reason or another.

EdinburghGary: Without a doubt, one of the most genuinely kind and generous people I've ever met. Having met him on IRC (and who I thought was a bit of a weirdo at first :D), met him in London, and spent a week with him in the highlands, I can honestly say it's a privilege to know this chap. Period.

Gandhi: Met in the highlands for the first time, got on well with instantly. A bottomless well of knowledge, and indeed inspiration: Any landscape photographer should look at his site for inspiration imho. He generously had me over the night before the last Brecon Beacons meet, making it possible for me to attend the event. Real top chap.

Foggy: Met first on the first London meet, and since then countless times on mini London meets. What can I say, simply an all round epic chap! London would not be the same without you mate!

Blapto: Both this chap and Gandhi know more about film photography than I could imagine, and really helpful with it as well. London, highlands, Brecon.... I hope you can make many more fella, as like I said at the end of Brecon, "Always a pleasure" :)

Alexisonfire: Endless banter on IRC, and a real top bloke in person. Looking forward to the next meet chief :)

Other special mentions: Chewyuk, Mohain, MD, Dominc5749, Spencer, Markp, Marcel, gazedd, Jimmy_Lemon, ynothay, Justin (for being an awesome Brother :D) and basically everyone that I've met on all the meets (Various London meets, Dorset, Focus, Brecon Beacons meets) too many names to fit in here!

Big props also goes out to the staff and mods here that make this place what it is. After all, if it wasn't for them, I and indeed many others would not have this place, and as a result the chance to meet it's members.

So there it is. My 3000th post. Thanks to everyone for making the place what it is. I for one know that my photography has improved as a result of being here. Maybe not a lot due to my being a bit naff in general, but some improvement at least! :D

PS: fraggle101, Apologies for the disagreement in your thread the other day. Love ya really chief :)

Just kidding though. That's a rather mighty fine 3000th post to be jumping in with tbh.

Good read. Nice one.

My count is creeping up very quickly, but it's just so easy to write posts when there's so much to talk about!
