Well I have my first photo job!

Why should it be a problem as long as he's got digital cameras as well it has to be asked? I think he should use what he is comfortable with, what he thinks he can do a good job with - not what others imply is necessary. Nobody will bat an eyelid when the old Bentley/Rolls/Horse and Cart pull up outside with the Bride in it will they? Nobody's gonna shout out she should have come in a DB9...

Is that in response to my post? If it is, my 'as long as' only refers to his confidence with film and the couple being aware [modern expectation from clients is digital, there is NO escaping that no matter what], not whether he also has digital too - they are useful backups, thats all and a come back at those commenting on onky one digital body. If on the other hand its a general comment, I agree, but still strikes me as being a tad argumentative rather then advice offering....

Not arguementative, defensive. We get pilloried because someone comes and takes a poke at us (not even relising there is a film section apparently) and yet when we try some sort of defense we get jumped on. Despite the film-heavy side of things most have digital as well and accept the differences. Embracing them and using them seems to be only a one way street however.

There's only one way to settle it ................ Fiiiiiiiiiiight. :-)

*sigh*

ANY more arguments from EITHER side will be jumped on, by ME! My original post is aimed at the combatents from both sides of the fence, not just one, is that clear?

This IS my final word on the matter, the thread will now return to its point of offering Rob constructive advice, not being defensive or offensive.

Good luck, buddy. And I also have a Contax G with 3 lens set. Its AF, so might be easier for the grab shots. If you need that, let me know.

why are you only shooting black and white? I'd recommend buying another film body (as they're so cheap these days.. 20/30 quid).. get some high speed colour film such as fuji pro800z for indoor shots with a wide aperture lens, and some good quality colour film, maybe Kodak portra 160vc or nc for outdoor shots. (unless they specifically want B+W)

Although I think awp was being out of order, I wouldn't try without a digital camera.. I have done weddings before using a 5D and instantly being able to tell whether the picture was what I wanted by looking at the display and the ability to change the ISO between shots was invaluable.

I am going to my uncles wedding in May and will be shooting film, but I am just one of 3 photographers (the other 2 using digital) so the responsibility resting on my shoulders isn't so heavy.

Anyway good luck, I look forward to seeing the result (if u plan on posting here).

**edit** i didn't read the second page of this thread before posting, so sorry for repeating what others said ><

Hey Rick, no worries. The idea of a second film body also with colour in might be a good one!

Yvonne, thats a good point about using the 105 half way down the aisle, I will ensure I visit the location (most likely on several occassions due to this being my first!) and speak with the vicar - great advice cheers!
