Yes
Just get back into things and start to have fun again with Photography and then.... BAM!!!!!!

God or whoever obviously thinks I am having too much fun so he puts my back out again.....

And just to cap it all off when I should be in the lake district with Diddy Dave I will be under the knife having spinal surgery again....

What more can go wrong......lol

Just thought I would have a little rant....

Nigel

Ouch. You have my sympathies. I have a weak back and did mine the other day worse than ever before and boy, that wasn't fun for a week or so. Yours sounds much more serious so good luck with the surgery!

Bad news. Have you got any cheap camera gear to sell?
LOL there is always an upside to every situation....

Selling ... not this time the main reason I get back into photography was to get s lighter solution and the EM1 and all the stuff I have recently procured from the site will not be going anywhere.

Rich

Thanks for that mate.... yep back weakness is not a fun thing...

Hopefully won't be too long before I am out and about again on the meets.

Feel better soon....back problems are the absolute pits.

Aye, back pain is a real pain in the ar5e...... err, back.

Mmm, maybe best not to think about that too much. :D

Joking aside, all the best, Nigel. ;)

Hope you're better soon.

Weak back can be solved with lots of core strength exercises (all low impact). Takes time to build up but worth doing

Hope to see you up here in the lovely Lakes when you are well recovered. The fells and lakes will wait for you. :):snaphappy:

Hope you have a rapid recovery after that op Nigel, good luck.(y)

I wonder if maybe you need to look a little closer to home for someone to blame (;)) but I hope you recover quickly.

Thanks James...

Was aware of that however it's a catch 22 situation.... Back needs to be better to exercise....

Well I could blame the family gene pool seven other members suffer back issues with 2 others having surgery...

But since "he" adds the ingredients to the food blender of life... Odds on he was p***ed when he did our family batch... Lol

Cheers

Nigel

That it is, but it is possible to break out of the loop, I had a discectomy and am now doing much better as a result. If you can sit up you can do core exercises.

Just trying to offer some hope, not belittle your injury, it's rough going having a terrible back.

James totally agree....

Did not mean to sound short with you.... I had this first happen 15 years ago and managed to keep things working... But over the last year it's just got worse again...

So it's round two....

Cheers

All the best for it, hope you're up on your feet sooner rather than later.

I've always had a dodgy back since a serious injury in my youth. Sitting down is bad for it, tends to seize up. So I've deliberately made my computer chair a hard uncomfortable wooden one. Makes me fudget while sitting, and makes me get up for a stretch more often. Walking while carrying nothing, or a weight balanced on both shoulders is good for it, so long as I don't tire it. So when I retired I wanted to recover my health and strength by walking. So I wanted some kind of hobby which would make walking around more engaging and interesting. I chose photography :-)

When I started I couldn't walk for more than two miles without needing a good rest, and my bridge camera was annoyingly heavy. Now I can stroll around or scramble around in rough country for hours without needing a break while easily carrying a DSLR gear bag weighing several kilos.

The worst kind of sitting for my back is sitting in a car. That makes it seize up faster and more painfully than anything else.
