Whats the strangest thing youve bought for a photo...

Have you ever bought an item purely to take a photo of it? For several competitions ive gone out and bought things to fulfil my idea, these include a "newtons craddle", 500mb HDD and Canon 580EX.

At the weekend I bought 24x Vodka Twistee Shots, because they looked nice and Im sure I can do a nice photo with the glasses after ive drunk them all.

That's not a photoshoot it's a challenge.

Any1 for 48 ?

:D lol @ Oldgit

Dont think I have, but then shopping is not on my list of things I love to do, so spotting something while in Tescos and thinking 'interesting' dont happen to me much ;)

Good question though, often wonder where alot of you lot get your inspiration for alot of these abstract. and product type shots - was a great one by CatDaddy early this week using sheet music, just to mention one example.

(sorry for going OT a bit)

My wierd things were all for my nail competitions ....

Last photoshoot ... Egyptian Ankh, (didnt end up using it)

Shoot before that ... A wedding dress & a chocolate gateaux.

Shoot before ... a cowboy hat & cocktail umbrella.

Shoot before that one ... hired a 20's antique telephone (never used it)

Shoot prior to that ... a crystal ball & tarot cards.

First shoot ... sent for a greenman mask all the way from Venice!

Now you don't really think any of us are convinced by that, do you? Good excuse though! :D

I have some wooden pebbles that I bought a few months back because they looked like they would be good to photograph. Not managed to get anything useful out of them yet except a nice smell (they were scented)

black rubber dress and stockings, two cans of rubber gloss spray and a dog-collar...

I bought a pair of 15 denier black tights back in the eighties to give a soft focus look to a photo, all they did is make my legs look funny though.

i bought a newtons craddle too, didnt work out, but also been known to buy Stick men, wooden fruit, odd looking ornatments and funny coloured sand...
