FouR+ weeks and a non-smoker at last...Thanks Champix! Not even suicidal!

Gave up the fags 2 weeks before Xmas and feel so much better!!!

Still boody crave for a smoke though!

Anyone else done it recently and how are you doing/feeling.

If I didn't feel so much better, I'd be tempted to have a smoke, but I feel and breathe so good and hardly cough anymore despite having COPD.

I'm even saving up for a bicycle so I can go out for bike rides with my kids, and just a few weeks ago I found it difficult to walk to the local Co_Op without getting out of breath, coughing, spitting Chinese rock...etc.

Why did it take over 35 years!!:?? gag:

Congrats.

I'm about 8 weeks in now. No drugs so fortunately no nasty side effects. Still get the craving but they are far less frequent and much easier to ignore these days.

I am a bit disappointed that I've not noticed any of the non financial benefits, I don't really feel any different health and fitness wise but I am reasonably fit anyway and wasn't a huge smoker, food hasn't suddenly become more tasty but that could be my cooking!

On the plus side, I have more pennies in my pocket and I don't smell of cigarette smoke anymore.

Well done Carl. Unfortuntely I needed some drug to help me, but it's certainly helping me. I haven't saved any money that I would've spent on fags, but have found things a less of a struggle already...i.e..paying bills e.g.

I went cold turkey about 5yrs ago but still get the craving now and again.

Around 20 years for me and still, if I'm out on the lash (extremely rare!), I miss it! Having said that, last time I went for a serious drink, smoking was still allowed in pubs!!! Had a couple of pints (literally one per night) over the weekend and had no such craving.

Strange thing for me is the one I missed the most was the one after a meal.

I only smoke after sex and even then only when it's a bit chilly - probably just steam!

Or friction lmao.

Not here!!! Never seen the attraction of rubbing two sticks together!

Gave up 15 years ago after going down with flu, still get the odd craving specially when I smell someone smoking a pipe, (rarity nowadays) craving disappears after 10 seconds. The flemy chesty morning cough went fairly quickly as did the frequency of getting head colds and coughs generally.

Good luck and stick with it, can buy some good camera kit with the money you will save.

I stopped back in September last year the easy way, no drugs no patches no craving no bother at all..........16th September have heart attack......17th informed I need urgent heart surgery and I'm going no where till I get it.......26th triple bypass surgery.......1st October released from Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, I promise you Ive never even considered having a smoke since, so there you are folks keep of the cigarettes no matter how difficult it is before you find it as easy as I did.

Nothing like a major health scare to make you appreciate life is there?

Enjoy it and long may it last.

5 years ago for me too following a throat scare, cold turkey, every time I even feel remotely tempted which is rare anyway, when out having a drink etc, I just think back to how I felt during those few months when I didn't know if I had throat cancer or not, and wondering if I'd ever see my kids ride a bike etc.

Amazingly easy to say no then.

First thing I noticed after quitting was how great food tasted, and how terrible other smokers smell.

Good luck to all of you trying to quit, it gets much easier just keep at it.

Long, boring story ahead ; I stopped smoking years ago and started to feel more unwell, didn't make the connection at the time. I started smoking again a year later and I felt ok, but I just couldn't afford the smoking, so quit again. A year later i'm in hospital for a few weeks and diagnosed with an auto-immune disease that attacks my lungs and breathing. After reading up a lot about my condition, it appears nicotine actually supressed my disease all these years. And this is clearly medical fact, as it was in an episode of House hah.

In the end - quitting smoking has made my lungs and breathing worse, just my luck! I love telling this story to my best friend who is in the process of quitting.

Chris that sounds like a strong case for getting cigarettes on prescription.

Hey Chris you've got to move to some country where fags are cheap!
Russia is ... alright.

House rules.

3 and a half weeks with skycig. Haven't even wanted one so far. Even when drinking! I'm a HUGE smoker when drinking.
