Ok so here is the deal, I have been nominated to fight in a really big mma (cage fighting) tournament! The only problem is that I weigh 77kg at the moment and I have to be down to 70kg to fight it meaning I have to loose 7kg (1.1st) the fight is on the 26th of June so 1 month away.

Does anyone have any little tricks they have used to loose weight?

Tony.

Boxers lose up to 1st during the 48hrs before a fight??? Surely you should be aiming to lose appx 1/2 stone between now and the fight, and dehydrate yourself etc in the final 48hrs to help you make the weight??

My thinking is, that the guy you are facing will be doing something similar to that, so whilst you need to lose some weight, you don't want to end up in the ring with a 1/2 stone dissadvantage compared to your opponent???

Once I weigh in I use iv drips and put water in my body and put on half a st then so I always fight heavier then I weighed

Thanks for the link.

I think you need more than a little trick.
If you need to lose, say, 15lbs in 30 days that's about 1/2lb per day. That equates to roughly a shortfall of 1750 calories (3500 calories per lb). If you do 1000 calories of exercise a day and just eat about 1250 calories it might work but I wouldn't think you'd be very well prepeared for a fight at the end of it.

HIT training twice a day, first right when you wake up unfueled then again in the evening, bout 20-30mins each time should do the trick. Amazing how much this tears off the wieght.

Obesity has become major problem among the people and it is the most common problem faced by many. Many people include weight loss as their New Year resolution. The resolution should be seriously taken and should be followed to get better results.

What does this have to do with the question iv asked?

Absolutely what does that have to do what the OP asked? Not relevant in any way, shape or form!!

chop a leg off?

Whilst I acknowledge it happens in weight controlled sports, boxing and the ilk, horse racing etc, I cannot but help wonder the long term effects on the human body by deliberately dehydrating and then going on an IV drip to pump fluids back in (I assume 0.9% saline and not water!)

I can't cut water as it is the same day weighins so the problem is that water drains from the brain first before your organs and takes about 24 hours to rehydrate so if I was to do that in one day I would get knocked out really easy and can cause brain damage.

entirely depends on your current body fat percentage... if its pretty low, you will need to break down muscle to lose most of the weight, which is rather difficult and will not leave you in fighting condition. I once tried to get from a relatively lean 72kgs to 68.2kgs - Muay thai weight division limit, go to 69kgs 3 weeks before the fight and struggled with energy, sickness, moral, etc. Think carefully about this.... and how you do it!

I would be looking at a specialist trainer to help. "Tips & tricks" are not going to do you any good......

Let us know how you progress (weekly basis :)) will be a very interesting read.

I will do, and I will post up pictures today of how my body is and how it will transform in to fighting condition over the next few weeks.

Tony.
