As I use cheap brolly stands for lights and reflectors outside all the time, there is always the worry of them blowing over and at best damaging the brolly/reflector or worse damaging hundreds of pounds worth of flash

So I got some pairs of wrist weights from good old Argos £9.99 a pair (code 070/6548) that have a stretchy thumb hole as part of them. So, with them still rolled up you can open the thumb hole and pass it down the column of the light stand, three per stand (so three pairs does two stands). They hage perfectly and look realy rather pro. If it is really blowing you can wrap small plastic coke bottles (filled with rice, or similar) to add extra weight. The shape of the coke bottle stops it from slipping out of the wrist band.

Try it it's fab

Its great when you come up with something simple, cheap it looks the part. I use two small circular 5kg weights from my old barbell/dumbell set. I stick them in a sadle style pouch which has two long pockets at either end. I simply cut a circle out of the black leather directly in its centre and slid it down the stand. Looks good in black and you cant see the weights.

Sainsburys have got the leg and ankle weights on sale atm... each pack contains two weights for £5...
