Guys I need some help.

We're going away for a weekend in a couple of months for hubby's birthday as some bitch has ruined the party before it even began, so he decided that we'd go away instead. Thing is, we don't usually go away places, it's not something that we do, so no idea where to do!

:help:

It needs to be somewhere between Leeds and Edinburgh, near a train station, have crip access and pretty scenery and not be all cobbles. Neither of us drive and for all I can manage a while on a train, other forms of transport aren't very good for me, about 15 mins on bus or taxi is my lot....oh and needs to be fairly cheap!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

how about york?

nice there and quite a few things to keep you busy..

May be a daft answer but if you could manage 2 hrs on a train the lake district is a stunning place, and very relaxing too

I hate shopping but love york.. more to it than shops.. not quite the scenery of the lakes though thats for sure.. ;)

would have thought it would be difficult without a car there? not been for a few years though so not up on transport links..

Cockermouth is nice. Probably need a car though.

As mentioned York is nice, lots of cobbles if i remember though!

Yeah Rob most trains stop in Berwick ... gorgeous place and some nice little B & B's ,some beautiful walks and scenery.I lived there before Scunthorpe.

It doesn't match your distance requirements but... Cambridge is great. Peterborough is a couple of hours from Newcastle on a fast train, and Cambridge isnt that much further. Some good places to eat (Jamie Olivers place opens tomorrow), historic centre and just lovely!

Eh!!!!!!!!!!! have they moved Berwick????????? its 3/4 in the train from Newcastle and great photo oppertunities including the 3 bridges and great coastal shots from the golf course.

Possibly Bewick or the lakes, but York is kind of oit of the question. Couldn't go over the cobbles (been there a few times in my teens so know my way around a little) and many of the beautiful places aren't really wheelchair accessible. Cambridge is too far for me to travel on a train, the furthest I could really go without flaring up too badly is probably about Leeds or Edingbourgh (the joys of having a complex disability I'm afraid). Is there anywhere in the lakes that is pretty close to a train station or no further than a 15 min bus ride?
See the problems with going away are usually accessibility and consequences of me travelling (which is a significant increase in pain and reduction of use of limbs).

To be honest, you really need a car to get around in the lakes and even
going to somewhere like Bowness, its on a steep hill so getting about with
a wheelchair will be difficult.

North Berwick is nice and quiet too, not sure about the trains there though

Looking like Berwick Nattelie, and its a stunning place for photos my missus is a Berwick lass by the way lol
