Chaos - Anarchy,disarray

Not the most dramatic graffiti or the most artistic, wanted to try some different processing techniques & I'm quite happy with the HDR effect

Ahh a great idea for chaos! Nice one. I actually think that picking a bit of wall that is not in great condition and choosing graffiti that is not very good quality says chaos a lot more than if you had chosen a really nicely done piece. This says thug life and chaos more to me. I am viewing on an iPad and can't distinguish an HDR effect in the photo. Will look later on my pc.

And I certainly wouldn't argue with it on if it's a boy or a girl! :D

Great capture, and a bit unusual in that "it" almost seems to be quite tender with the bone cuddling and licking it as if it was a cub, despite that 15 minutes ago it was probably something's leg!
 
Thanks for the comments, can't remember if it was one of the "girls" or one of the 3 castrated males, when they've been castrated they loose their mane & they are less agressive & don't challenge the lead male.
 
Andy, great shot, but same issue for me as the heart image. I think it needs a crop. Lose some of the left hand edge, so the lion sits on the left hand third. I honestly dont think the dead space works, it seems to distract from the impact of a great image.

Great capture though. Well done.

I wasn't expecting this when I chose your thread! Nice shot and my first impression was that the colours are great - nice and rich. I like the expression on her face too - she's obviously very intent on finishing that particular meal!

(I was completely stuck for ideas when I saw the theme but having looked at the ones that have been posted so far it's possibly easier than I 1st thought :lol: )

My favourite trio of items, my rods, reels & alarms. Just a "holding" image, as I've been at the lake most of the week, was hoping to catch a trio of fish - but not to be.

May have to use this weeks re-shoot for trio.

I like the Chaos picture, but I'd prefer it without the timber panel on the floor.

Your Trio is good too.
How come you didn't get a trio of fish - did they all get away!
I take it you're into your Carp fishing in a big way then.
 
Great 'knowledge'' shot - you have captured the books really well - the colours, textures and the gold titles work really well together - a lovely composition.

Your knowledge shot is on theme, and I agree with what Joan has commented, although I think the focus has suffered a bit, perhaps it was intentional to have a softer focus, but I find it a tad distracting.

Otherwise a lovely colourful shot.

Think I need to invest in some equipment to take better indoor shots, struggling with the lighting & background, any advice or idaes very welcome

I agree with Jeff, the lighting and background seem fine, but the focus is off. Did you use auto or manual focus?

Also not sure what the line is to the left and right mid centre?

I can see how one would have difficulty eating this nutty choc in moderation :D yum yum

Hi, there, you're knowledge has some nice muted colours. The focus seems a bit out, I noticed especially the "A flick...".

I'd like to see a bit more symmetry, for want of a better word, with the books - I mean the left edges indenting in....can't explain....tired...!!

CHOCOLATE....need some!

Decent composition, but, as has been said, focus is off. Maybe large an aperture leading to a shallow dof?

Thanks for the feedback, I was trying to get the smaller pieces at the front of the picture in focus & to blur the background.I had the camera set on auto focus & aimed at the nearest nut! It took me a while & the chocolate was melting which didn't help.
I hadn't noticed the lines either side of the image in the centre & haven't got a clue what caused them??

I don't have a macro lens (yet) and took this using a 55-200 zoom, do you think a macro filter would help, until I get a propper macro lens?

Also what would explain the OOF, was I aiming at the wrong area or the wrong set up?

At least I got to eat the subject:lol:

Now those lines really have me stumped, I'm trying to figure out what they might be ..... as they seem to be in a direct line. I hope it isn't something on your sensor - have you any other photos that you have taken the same day/time as this one to see if the lines appear on those?

Did you take this photo handheld? If so, I think perhaps with the lens you used at such close range and on auto focus could have cause the focus to be out because the slightest movement would have thrown it off.

What settings did you use for this shot?

My entry for week 13 "Empty"

An empty & derelict water tower on a farm in Goodworth Clatford. According to the sweet old lady that came out to see what I was up to, it was built in 1927, but sadly looks like it's near the end.

Hiya Andy,

Glad to hear that the line didn't appear on other photos, so it must have just been a glitch in upload.

As for the settings you mentioned, that is still pretty much a learning curve for me (and normally trial and error). I would have perhaps tried a slightly higher ISO (maybe 200 or 400), depending on the lighting conditions. But as the background is already starting to border on slightly noisy I wouldn't go too high.

Now onto your Empty week .... I like both photos, but favour #1 because it gives a more aged and derelict feel to it that emphasizes the emptiness. Also prefer the angle of the shot compared to the second.

Hi Andy, agree about focus in the 'chocolate' (I'm a self confessed chocosnob ;))

Your water tower looks fascinating

#1 looks sharper and a better composition, though the sky looks poor.
#2 looks soft and a more tight composition. The sky looks more interesting as the colour gives it some definition.

A subject with much potential :thumbs: and bang on theme.

Great take on the theme and think it fits well. Also like the processing, just wondering what it would look like with a bit of an 'antique' type of pp'ing applied to it to give it more oooomph.

Also not sure if it is my eyes playing tricks, but looks like it needs a very slight straighten, but then that could be because there are so many horizonals and verticals to look at.

Otherwise a brill image .... where the hell did you find a pump like that? I thought those went our with the ark.

Thanks Dawn, found this pump on a farm this afternoon, whilst driving round looking for some rapeseed fields, flash of inspiration for object. The horizontals do look a bit odd, all the ground is un-even & the garage behind was leaning a bit. Might try some different effects to add a bit more ageing
