Just helped out at a friends wedding,

I feel as if I've been 10 rounds with Joe Calzaghe, my arms feel as if there going to drop off, & my back is as stiff as a board:'(
So full respect to all you wedding togs.

It a very steep learning curve though, had a great day there plus there was a free bar aswell!!:woot:

How did it go? What shots did you use? What was the weather like and what settings did you find worked?

Got my first coming up soon. Bricking it.

Cheers,
James

Hope you didn't get hit by the rain / flooding. All that kit gets heavy after a while eh?

Really good, I was pretty worried the day before, as it p*****d down all day.
It rained until five minutes before the ceremony ended, & the then the sun came out for about 20 minutes.
The rest of the day it drizzled lightly, so was ok even though it was an outdoor wedding.(with a Hindu ceremony in a Marquee)

I mainly used the AV setting, but I had a Sigma 24-70 2.8 which really really helped!
The only thing I regret is not being bossy enough!

I have a list of wedding photographs if you want a copy, can't remember if I got it from here or somewhere else.

Spencer - I'd love to see your list of pictures, as I have a wedding later this year - the groom is a photographer, to add to my nervousness...
Cheers
Steve

i've got my first one coming up in a couple of weeks - well, I took my camera along to one back in april but was nothing official, this one's going to be all on me (!) so looking forwards to it but yes, large solid build up is quite apparent...should be fine though, just need a backup camera!

Well, an email has arrived from Spence with the picture list - seems like he is another of the good folk here who will make an effort to help out - Cheers Dude !

PS - not to imply that I have encountered and bad folk here - all dealings have been good !

You're welcome to borrow my 350D if you want?
(its got the battery grip attached & a Sigma 24-70 2.8 on the end!)

I took the shots at my cousin's wedding on Saturday and it only stopped raining for about 15 minutes all day. Unusually I did the formals after dinner and that's when it stopped raining. Bit of a gamble but it came off thankfully.

I was really panicing before hand. The wedding was in Wantage and I just coudn't get through from Oxford with all the flooding. Was planning to get there 2 hours before the ceremony as I'd not had a chance to see the venue. I had to turn round and find a new route 5 times and only got there with half an hour to spare.

I'd be interested in seeing some of your shots if you can post them up.

I'm glad you made it, some of the guests there on Saturday took 15 hours to get down to Stroud from Bradford!:(

I will post some of the shots up, but I want the B & G to see them first & they are away until next week!

They are quite demanding physically, but not as bad as some work I've done recently. The worst was a 12 hour stint at the London Marathon earlier this year for an american company marketing images to the fun runners (I think I took close on 9000 images!!!). Felt like my arms were going to drop off!

Eek. I dont envy you on that account Steve

dawntwist - I didn't know what he did until after I accepted - I have not seen his ppictures, and he has not seen mine yet, so there will be some sweaty palms going on on the day we do meet up to discuss it all....
