Weddings, in dark places

what you do for groups kinda depends on your background and gear set, if you are primarily natural light (thinking) then you are likely to go for either something simple or a tripod

if your background includes a lot of lighting then its likely to be more complex, I've seen a lot of different stuff used for this, remember available light includes all the lights you brought with you :D

if the ceiling is high I'd be tempted to nail a very powerful flash into it (not a speedlight) to give a soft even light then to fight the isl a bit nail another (potentially a speedlight) into the wall behind you to fill in those faces

Can't see any reason why you should be having a problem Dave ... ? All working OK on Mac, PC and the phones. No flash content either apart from the two slideshows ... Stumped .. !! Be interested to hear if you find the reason why you can't view it though ....

Just watched your vids Dave, great stuff! Nice to see you on TP!

What like those heads I mentioned earlier David ;) lol

If I need to literally flood an area with light then that's my weapon of choice, however I would not argue with Mr Nunn and I just prefer to make sacrifices at the bottom of the garden to ensure good weather :)

missed that bit, and yeah the farmer has been known to lose sheep if I have a big location shoot coming up - we are all pagans down here in the peoples republic of cornwall

Thread hijack but Dave those wedding videos are fantastic. Loved the fact that Rob Dougan was on the vids too, was pleasently surprised to hear Clubbed To Death and the slow mo walking was very "lady in the red dress" like haha.

Hats off to you. The way you interact with the bride, groom & guests is brilliant. It is politely commanding with a sense of humour and it's not too in your face.

Hats off to you man! Thoroughly enjoyed those videos!

We tend to carry a studio lighting setup as back-up, if theres room we use this for extra (or main) lighting if needed. But another possibility is continous lighting, these can be had fairly cheaply. We did a wedding recent'y and the video guy had some tremendous lights, the gloomy large venue was lit up like a film set with just two good lights, we had tons of light to shoot with.

Many thanks Freefall. Did them originally for clients, but seems like photographers are enjoying them too, and hopefully those starting out will learn a little from them, which is great.

Cheers

Dave.
